To all Pride families-

I want to start this message with an expression of thanks to each and every one of you for your support of the Pride Elite program. What started six years ago as a labor of love and commitment has ended up being one of the highlights of my 25-year career in softball and baseball. The Pride Elite program has focused on creating strong athletes with team focus and values, and it has brought me great joy to see these girls develop into better players and talented young women. I have always made a conscious effort to put the girls first in every decision that has been made with the organization and I'm proud of all they have accomplished.

As you know, there are many challenges in running a softball program. After careful consideration of existing and ongoing business and personal changes, needs, and strategies, the difficult decision has been made to make this the last year for Pride Elite. I wanted to share this decision as early as possible to give the players time to explore other opportunities and plan for tryouts with other teams. During this time of transition, please know that I am available to support and assist the players however I can. I am hopeful that some teams may be able to stay together, just under a different name/organization.

I have had much love and support from many people along the way and I am humbled and grateful for that. Pride Elite would not have made it this far without the coaches, players, parents, and our dedicated board, but it is time to move on. While COVID-related challenges resulted in significant disruption to our season, I am excited for our upcoming tournaments and looking forward to seeing our players on the field!

With appreciation and respect,

Shawn

NCAA has extended the dead period. What does this mean? It means the future of recruiting will be a little different.

Every player (and family) should be researching target colleges. Where do you want to go?

Next, video, video, video. You need to be creating videos of weight training, speed and agility, batting drills, fielding drills, pitching, catching, everything. What are you doing to stay in shape and ready to play? Coaches want to see you are resilient, resourceful, and dedicated.

Your videos don't have to be fancy, phones work great. Just make sure you are able to edit as needed and NO AUDIO.

Create a YouTube channel for your videos. Then start sending your videos with introductions to your list of schools. Every player should have 10-20 schools on a list. Reasonable schools, from JUDO to DI. There are tons of smaller schools looking for players, think outside the popular.

Stay up to date on your list of schools, especially outside of IL. When will those schools start hosting camps again? Ryzer.com is a great tool for tracking camps. Stalk college websites.

All the Pride coaches and board have experience at the collegiate level and would love to see the players continue to the next level.

Use this down time to your recruiting advantage!

Note to parents: Be prepared to film games and practices when they start. Go Pros are great if you have one and the LynkSpyder is great for hanging on fences. There are other devices as well. Work together to help create videos of each player for recruiting.
