Will County Meals on Wheels Will County Meals on Wheels is provided by Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association.

The Will County Meals on Wheels program is run by the Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association and the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois. The Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association (CNNSSA) was born out of a meal service program operated by the Community Economic & Development Association (CEDA) in the 1970s

In the late 1990s, federal funding for

senior services began to diminish. The Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association became a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2000. In order to remain in full operation and be able to expand services to meet the growing need, the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois (MOWFNI) was created in 2001 as the fundraising, community outreach, and public awareness arm of Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association. The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois is a not-for-profit organization created to increase public awareness and generate contributions to support the services provided by Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association (CNNSSA).

Federal courts ordered the federal administration to continue paying for SNAP (food stamps) during the government shutdown. IDHS and the State of Illinois are reviewing these orders. SNAP benefits remain on hold by the federal government for November until further notice or order by the courts. Even if the courts order payment, it is uncertain how long it will take for SNAP payments to be made.

Benefits from months prior to November can still be used.

IDHS will keep customers updated on this evolving situation.
