The Will County Meals on Wheels program is run by the Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association and the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois. In the late 1990s, federal funding for
senior services began to diminish. The Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association became a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 2000. In order to remain in full operation and be able to expand services to meet the growing need, the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois (MOWFNI) was created in 2001 as the fundraising, community outreach, and public awareness arm of Community Nutrition Network & Senior Services Association. The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois is a not-for-profit organization created to increase public awareness and generate contributions to support the services provided by Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association (CNNSSA).
