In Loving Memory of Correctional Deputy Kevin Brewer
October 14, 2017 🖤💙🖤

Nine years ago, the Will County Sheriff's Office suffered a heartbreaking loss with the passing of Correctional Deputy Kevin Brewer.

On October 14, 2017, Deputy Brewer, a 10-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office and member of the Adult Detention Facility’s Emergency Response Team, suffered a fatal heart attack after responding to multiple incidents during his shift. Despite the immediate lifesaving efforts of his fellow officers and medical personnel, Kevin tragically passed away.

Kevin was more than a dedicated deputy. He was a husband, a father of three, a friend, and a brother to those who had the privilege of serving alongside him. His kindness, sense of humor, and the laughter he shared with others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Today, we honor Kevin’s service, remember the life he lived, and stand with the family, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry his memory.

Nine years later, Kevin is still remembered, still missed, and will never be forgotten.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our own, Court Security Officer Donald Pezzuto.

CSO Pezzuto was a respected and loved member of the WCSO family who dedicated his career to serving our community and others. The loss of our brother is felt deeply throughout our department.

Our thoughts and prayers are with CSO Pezzuto’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.

📝Seeking students with a record of volunteerism in the community
📝Applicants must provide supporting documentation for 75 hours of community service for 2025/2026
📝Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
📝Plan to attend or already be attending a two- or four-year college or technical school
📝Applicants must be a County of Will employee or an employee’s child or grandchild

Will County Sheriff FOP Lodge #94 is proud to continue the legacy of Deputy Jodi O’Brien by supporting students who share her commitment to service, community, and giving back.

The 2026 Jodi O’Brien Scholarship is open to eligible students who are attending or planning to attend a two- or four-year college or technical school and have demonstrated a strong commitment to community service.

💙 What we’re looking for:
• A minimum 2.0 GPA
• At least 75 hours of documented community service
•Applicant must be a County of Will employee, their child, or grandchild
• Students attending or planning to attend college or technical school

📅 Application Deadline: September 14, 2026 at 4:00 PM

Scholarship recipients will receive assistance toward second-semester tuition and fees, while helping us carry forward Jodi’s remarkable legacy of service.
