📢 PEN CENTER CLOSURE UPDATE

Unfortunately, the Peer Empowerment Network Drop-In Center will remain closed tomorrow, Tuesday, October 13, as our staff continues to recover from illness.

We were hopeful to reopen, but a little more time is needed to ensure everyone can return healthy and ready to go! 💚

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. Please remember to take care of yourselves, especially during this time of year when illness seems to spread so easily.

Please continue to check our page for updates regarding Wednesday’s schedule.

We miss our PEN family and hope to see everyone again soon! ❤️

📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE: PEN CENTER CLOSED MONDAY, OCTOBER 12

Our Peer Empowerment Network Drop-In Center will be closed tomorrow, Monday, October 12, because illness has affected our entire staff. We’re sorry for the change in plans and appreciate your understanding while our team rests and recovers.

❤️ A gentle reminder to our PEN family: We love seeing you, and we want everyone to stay well. If you’re feeling sick, please take time to rest at home. Even a mild illness can spread and affect participants and staff, and when our whole team is sick, we may not be able to keep the center open.

Staying home when you’re sick is one of the kindest ways you can look out for your PEN family. ❤️

Please check our page for an update about Tuesday’s schedule.

Thank you for helping us keep PEN a healthy and welcoming place for everyone. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Your PEN Team 💚

What a lovely evening in Scarecrow Alley! 🍂✨

A special thank-you to our PEN participants, who worked so hard to create their scarecrows and bring the alley to life. We also want to recognize Student Link, Croyle Nielsens, and Magellan for participating and helping make the event so special. To John for making the cutest carrot candy treat bags! And thank you to everyone who came out, lent a hand, and shared the evening with us!

A heartfelt thank-you to Josh Horner for his moving and motivating speech. His words captured the whole audience!! I don’t think anyone moved the entire time! Josh also led us in a “Moment of Presence,” a breathing exercise that gave us time to slow down, focus on the present, and simply be together.

We’re so grateful to Natalie Moldofsky for speaking beautifully about the center and sharing what makes it meaningful. Thank you to Lewis Smith for sharing his journey and the positive impact the center has had on his life, and to Susan Glista for her kind words and for being part of the center since its early days.

The evening was about more than scarecrows. We came together to recognize that mental health is part of everyone’s story, to celebrate people who have spoken openly about their experiences, and to remember the power of connection and presence. Sometimes, simply being there for someone can mean so much.

We’re grateful to everyone who made the night warm, welcoming, and full of community. Thank you for being part of it! 💛

🌾✨ Join Us for an Evening in Scarecrow Alley! ✨🌾

The Peer Empowerment Network invites you to walk through Scarecrow Alley and meet a collection of celebrity-inspired scarecrows created by our participants and community partners.

Each scarecrow represents a celebrity who has helped bring attention to mental health, publicly spoken about their personal struggles, resilience, or the importance of supporting others. As you make your way through the alley, you’ll have the chance to learn a little more about each person, the story behind the scarecrow, and the message their team chose to share.

💛 This evening is about more than scarecrows. It is about conversation, connection, awareness, and reminding one another that no one has to walk alone.

📅 Monday, October 8th
⏰ Beginning at 5:00 PM
📍 Peer Empowerment Network Drop-In Center
514 Somerset Street, Johnstown, PA

Come stroll through the alley, enjoy light refreshments, see the creativity of our participating teams, and spend an evening with our PEN community.

🌾 Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer another person is our presence.

We hope you’ll join us for this special evening! 💛

The Crumb Squad, was sure we had it figured out… but we were fooled! 😂
