This week we tested a very important (and highly scientific) question: how many students can fit in the chicken coop?

The verdict? Still undetermined.

It turns out the equation has a lot of variables… including whether or not your friends decided to shower that day 🤨

All jokes aside, TLS South students had a great time meeting our chickens!

We talked about what goes into a healthy chicken diet, including mealworms—aka a tasty protein-packed snack for future egg-laying hens… but they’re apparently not as exciting when you’re not the one laying eggs. Who knew?

Around here, sensory experiences are everywhere, and the chicken coop definitely delivers its fair share!

Last week before our central group headed off for summer break, they spent the day helping prepare garden beds for flowers, working in the garden, and, of course, visiting the alpacas!

We’re so proud of everything this group accomplished throughout the school year. We’ll miss seeing their smiling faces over the summer, but we’re excited to see what new adventures they’ll get into and tell us about next year 🌻

The chicks are officially in their run!

Have you ever wondered what an alpaca alert sounds like?

Your first guess probably wasn’t a seagull in distress… but now you know!

Buck was NOT happy about his new neighbors.

Our Granville group today was small but mighty 💚

This group is made up of mostly seniors which means that tears may or may not have been shed as they drove away…

Saying goodbye to our students is never easy as they prepare for their next big adventures. Watching them grow in confidence, independence, and skills over the years is something really special.

That’s why we’re always exploring new and expanded opportunities for our students— because their journeys don’t stop here!

Last week we had the opportunity to visit Denison University for their final market of the semester!

We brought along some of our students to help out, and we couldn’t have been more proud of them. Throughout the school year, they’ve been working hard to build important vocational and life skills, and this market gave them the chance to put those skills into action alongside the items they helped create!

Students interacted with customers, handled money, talked about their products, and practiced customer service skills. They also worked on rotating lunch breaks, time management, and keeping the table stocked throughout the event.

Opportunities like this are such a valuable way for students to be out in the community, build confidence, and put their skills to the test in a real-world setting!

Interested in catching us out in the community yourself? In addition to Happy Dog Farm Stand, we will be attending farmers markets in Johnstown this summer!

What a wonderful opportunity!
