This ⬇️ is why we stopped intakes. My intention is not to smear someone who is trying to help but she wasn’t. She was fulfilling her hoarder dreams at the cost of many animals. We both fostered for another terrible rescue at the same time and I had animals I brought in and I knew died in her care from gross negligence. She’s not a rescuer, quite the opposite. Because she “cooperated” (lied and hid evidence several times over) she got no charges, no repercussions, and she can open again in a year while keeping all her personal animals.
You won’t ever catch me advocating for everyone to get into rescue. Not everyone can or should take this on. Did I know the intricacies when starting this rescue? No. Was I willing to do everything in my power to learn and be consistent with care? Absolutely. I ensured I had mental and financial resources to support this. She lied, manipulated, and caused 100x the suffering many of us work hard to end. She is a hoarder and has never been a vet tech as she always told people. You can check out all licenses on pals.pa.gov.
Question rescues and shelters on their standards of care and practices. Advocate for cat rescues to be monitored like dog rescues. Do not ever adopt to or surrender an animal to Emily Shope or any rescue she affiliates with. Her board members were her girl friend and a board member of One Dog At A Time. She absolutely did not follow 501c3 guidelines and absolutely would have defrauded donors. If you surrendered to her previously, I’m sorry. 😞
Huge shout out to Central PA Humane Society, Nicole’s Furry Feline Rescue and Project Meow for commiserating with me regarding this horrible situation we all tried to intervene in. And of course Kitty Co. Cat Rescue and Lounge for all the sacrifices they made to try to help someone who never wanted it.
