Our own Miss Lauren was in Harrisburg last week to discover new ways to enhance child care throughout our region.

Collaboration is key to building a stronger child care system. UWP was proud to attend the 2026 Pennsylvania Child Care Innovation Summit alongside United Way of Berks County, United Way of York County, United Way of the Southern Alleghenies, and Brad Hall, a dedicated donor, volunteer, and Tocqueville Society member. Together, we're helping move ideas into action for Pennsylvania families.

Thank you to our friends at the AAUW-Pa Johnstown Branch for volunteering to help us create literacy stations. Each literacy station is themed around a particular topic such as music, animals, cars, letters, and more. They will be distributed across the community to encourage early literacy and playful learning.

Missing a friend? We may have your boy. He was found in Old Conemaugh Borough. If someone gave him away, let us know as we feel there is a backstory as he is generally well-mannered and clearly likes people. We don’t judge, but we want to make sure he is safe and properly homed.
