We are All One – Arts Transcending Borders
Visit the Gallery on Gazebo on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 10-3 and Saturday from 10-5 to view this amazing exhibit.
The exhibit features the work of two Afghan women who work with the Embassy in Washington D.C, plus examples of Afghan folkart.
Elaha Soroori is the first female Afghan artist specializing in fluid media. Instead of regular brushes, she uses water, fire, airflow and gravity as her tools for achieving a very unique effect.
Rahela Majidi’s paintings are an expression of the freedom that she longed for in her home country for so many years. She shows the peaceful and colorful side of her country, where women have their rights to defend themselves. The message is women empowerment and represents the culture of Afghanistan.
In addition to the paintings which are offered for sale, you can see glassware, woodwork, hand-embroidered clothing and rugs as you sip some saffron tea and enjoy jalebi.

Did you know? Johnstown was founded in 1800 by an immigrant! Joseph Schantz (also knows as Johns) was an immigrant from Germany who laid out the settlement he named “Conemaugh Old Town”.

The German immigrant set out to plan streets, designate areas for recreation, and establish places for worship for the many faiths represented in Johnstown.

You can see historical markers for Joseph Johns around Johnstown. Learn more here:
