For many Colorado kids, the school cafeteria is the most reliable meal of their day. When summer break hits, that safety net disappears and the hunger gap that used to last just a weekend now stretches across three months.

Beef Sticks for Backpacks doesn't stop showing up just because the school year ends.

Our partner programs continue distribution through the summer so kids in food-insecure households still get the protein they need to grow, play, and just be kids.

Beef Sticks for Backpacks was founded in 2019 with a simple but lofty belief that no child in Colorado should spend the weekend hungry.

What began as a commitment from the Colorado agriculture community has grown into a statewide program reaching over 20,000 kids every week across 30 programs.

To date, we have distributed more than 4 million beef sticks to food-insecure children across this state.

None of it would be possible without the donors, partners, and community members who share that belief.
