Metro Business Friends Metro Business Friends is a peer mentor group. It was started to help grow and support area business owners and sales professionals.

Focused on creating a welcoming environment. We are a lead generator and educational networking group open to everyone, Metro Business Friends was started to offer a free membership to area business owners, independent contractors, and sales professionals. Our goal is to build relationships, help each other grow our businesses, and learn from each other. The group has evolved to include over 43 in

dustries in the Des Moines metro area. Metro Business Friends meet every Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at Price Chopper (formerly Dahls) 5440 NW 86th Street in Johnston (upstairs). What makes Metro Business Friends different is we don’t have any membership dues and it’s not mandatory to be at every meeting. There is no limit on people per industry. We believe that healthy competition makes everyone better, and promotes organic growth for the group.

If you haven't been paying attention, here are three sobering facts.

1. Jobs added per month have not been as low since COVID (2020), and before that, since the 2008 recession.
2. AI adoption continues to impact the decline in jobs. While most sectors are feeling the impact, the under-25, customer service, accounting, and software development groups are being hit the hardest.
3. The first time since 2021, more people are looking for a job than there are available jobs.
