It has now been 9 years of constant cat trapping for me.
Thank you Scruffy Paws, Pet Refuge, East Bay Pawswatch and all my donators for helping me acomplish my goals.
I finally had time to sit down and go over my notes to get my rescue numbers for 2025.
This year was tough. I work full time as a welder and part time as an Uber driver I squeeze in cat rescue when I can but only really have time for emergencies. Pregnant cats, mamas and kittens, sick, injured and lost at an unformilliar location.
Not too much colony or TNR work.
I can’t hold and process cats properly.

Street Kittens trapped 62
Pregnant females trapped 17
Tame mamas with kittens 11
Kittens born inside 54
Trap Neuter/spay Return 17
Tame cats rescued 6
Microchipped 1
Dying cat ER 2
Trapped Broken leg amputation 2
Barn placement 5

In 9 years of work I’ve acomplish approximately 650 kittens trapped.
Another 550 born inside from pregnant trapped mama cats.
Thats over 1000 kittens taken off the streets.
I don’t really have accurate numbers. I’m just going off averages.
I lost a lot of my records recorded on old phones.
Thank you all for the suport and donations over the years.

Huge rescue on Monday!
Doja Cat came up on a transport truck to R.I. with other animals that had been adopted online from shelters located in TEXAS.
One of the meeting spots is the Atwood Ave PetSmart parking lot in Johnston.
Because of a botched transfer between two carriers, Doja Cat escaped into an unknown wooded area next to the parking lot.
One of the dog rescue volunteers that was there quickly contacted myself and other rescue cat trappers for help.
With a Blizzard coming the next night, this cat was in a lot of trouble.
Volunteers built a shelter and set up feeding stations.
I brought two cellular camera to monitor the bowls.
She did not show up on camera that night.
The next night RI and the whole North East was slammed by a blizzard snow fall that dropped about 30 inches of snow.
We thought this cat was doomed.
I monitored the camera for two weeks. The rain came and warm weather came to melt the snow.
At 11:00PM on Sunday the 8th, she unbelievably showed up on camera.
She stayed at the shelter and ate food for 6 hours and then went back to the woods.
After work that morning of the 9th,
I set up to trap Doja because I knew she would come back for more food.
Sure enough like out of the textbook I know so well, she came at sundown. My big remote control trap was set and ready.
After investigating the trap and getting scared away by interference from cars, she finally walked in the trap. I hit the switch and the job was done. I transferred her out and brought her home. I called my vet and she told me to monitor the cat close and be ready to take her to the ER if she wasn’t acting right. Doja was surprisingly in good working order, just skinny. I regulated her food intake because of her starvation but now she’s eating normally.
She will be given back to her adopter this weekend.
This was one of my most successful rescues ever. The odds were against her but we did not give up.
Here is the long boring video of the actual trapping of Doja.
Thank you all for the suport. I’ll be doing a fundraiser soon to help buy new cellular cameras because while on this job, 2 of my cellular cameras were stolen and a have a heart trap was stolen from this location also.
Thanks.

Because some of you were asking about the shelters I make from screw top barrels. Check facebook marketplace for people selling these barrels. Buy the Azek material for the awning.
DO NOT USE PLYWOOD OR ANY WOOD FOR SHELTERS
USE AZEK FRAMING MATERIAL FROM HOME DEPOT.
Wood rots and breaks down fast outside, especially plywood. Paint does nothing. Wooden shelters look good for a couple years maybe then fall apart.
These barrels will last many years. They are heavy plastic and big.
I do not insulate, I only load with straw. Don’t use that reflective material. It only falls on the straw. The cats claw and wreck it and it does not actually reflect heat, it just gets in the way.
Try this design.

*UPDATE*
This old guy went to the vet today.
Blood tests show he has a thyroid issue and he was anemic. He is an ear tripped cat but I did not do the TNR myself. I have notes from this colony from 5 years ago that say he is a somewhat tame cat.
He’s in foster care now resting. I will be looking to place him into a home to fill out his days off the street.
After temperament evaluation I’ll update the post.

I finally had a chance to grab this old sickly guy after work today.
He’ll be handed off to another rescue person tomorrow morning and brought to the vet to get cleaned up and examined. I think he’s just old. He’s been living the barrel shelter I dropped off for him.
I’ve been monitoring him on a cell trail camera for about a week now. This location is a small colony in Providence. This guy has been around for years but I could never trap him to TNR him. I’m always bogged down with so many emergencies. I’m hoping we can get him back on track and living in someone’s home that will understand him.

These kittens and Mama are now with the NK Pet Refuge. I’m just the trapper.
I went out to trap 5 kittens and a friendly Mama in North Kingstown this morning 2/7 during the snow fall.
I was asked to help out here by Animal Control and concerned citizens.
As always, I put out the cellular camera and monitored the food bowl for a few days to know for sure how many kittens were here. I had to wait until I had free time on Saturday anyway. I always wait for a Saturday Sunday to trap kittens just in case I need the whole day.
Of course there was a small snow storm coming through this morning but I had to get this job done because of the extreme freezing temperatures on the way. The cats had a makeshift shelter to get them by but at 3 degrees for Sunday I wanted them inside.
I had help from a friend of mine today with trapping and videotaping. I should have some footage to show everyone soon but until then I’ll post some pictures from the camera and the rescue day.
Huge thanks to The Pet Refuge in North Kingstown for taking the 5 kittens and mama from me. I’ve been giving them cats and kittens for 10 years. They have been a huge helpa

Long day. Trapped 6 older kittens and one pregnant mama who was probably the mama to some of the kittens and already pregnant again.
I’m going to ask for help on this one. I need rescues with experience in taming older kittens in Rhode Island These guys weigh about 2.5-3.5 pounds.
It’s two litters. There’s 4 young ones and two slightly older ones. There’s even two more still out there. They have shelters and a feeder.
This is part of a big colony in Providence. I found it on my own by chance.

Remember that kitten I pulled out of that rotten tree earlier in the year? The kitten was the last of a litter where mama was nesting in a rotted out tree. This baby climbed way up the hollow tree and stayed there. Mama moved the kittens and left her behind. I never found the other kittens or the mama. The property owners could hear a kitten crying inside the tree so I was called out.
We had to cut the small tree down to get her out.

*UPDATE*
Yes. It’s a small section of a drain spout extention for your house gutters. I was able to cut it off him after he calmed down this morning. He seems like he’s tame. Still very scared.
********************
I trapped him.
I’m not sure what is around his neck but he won’t let me touch him so he will have to be sedated at the ER vet tomorrow. He’s a 15 pound intact powerful male.
I can see this thing is not causing him harm. There’s no blood or choking. I think it might even be a kind of cardboard material.
I’ll update again tomorrow.

My target cat for this weekend.
Cranston, RI.
Intact stray male eating at the bowl late night in the cold with an object stuck around his neck. I’ll wait all night for him with my remote trap.
He comes around sundown sometimes but also at midnight other times so it might be a long wait at the location. There’s three other cats who show up and multiple possums. This is why the remote controled trap is so important to utilize. l

Video from the other night trapping that last MIA kitten from Apponaug Warwick. Mama even left him behind. I tracked him down with the cellular camera and feeding station.
We think mama may have gone back to her owner and is now indoors. We are investigating.
Most trappers would have lost and given up on this guy. Most trapper do not utilize cellular trail cameras and remote controled target traps.

I got involved by accident at this location.
I TNR’d “5”
Females one street over. This kitten will get all fixed up and this property owner will volunteer to take him because he’s about 3 months old and too wild for shelter.

Hope Cat Rescue, R.I.

Hope cat rescue was formed by myself, Nate Campagna of Warwick, RI.

I am a 501c3 nonprofit organization and RI licensed cat rescue.

I have been seriously involved with street cat rescue for over four years specializing in target trapping of feral born Kittens and their Mama’s. Also pregnant cats and the sick, injured or just abandoned homeless cats. I mostly just target trap cats in need and get them to other rescue groups for veterinarian care and adoption if that is an option for the cat. I conduct “TNR,” Trap, Neuter/Spay Return on a regular basis. I have rescued literally hundreds of kittens from a doomed life on the streets. Most of my rescue work is done in Providence, RI. My cat rescue is funded 100% on donations. I volunteer my free time to get my rescue work done.
