When you plant, when you speak, there is no immediate return on investment. But in due season, along the way, or later in life, the lessons, the conversations, the teachings, the experiences take root and grow into something beautiful.

A true mentor understands that he may be the planter or he may be the waterer. Either way, the increase will come in the time it’s needed.

So keep sowing. Keep pouring. Keep showing up for the young men who won’t be able to name what you gave them until years after you gave it.

Spiritual bypassing never gets you to healing, because you’re hiding. ~ Dharius Daniels

As I’ve said, and have been saying: what’s concealed cannot be healed. It takes a courageous and strong person to admit “I NEED HELP!” When your life, or the life of someone you truly love, is on the line, you will, no, you MUST remove whatever is trying to stop you from getting what you need. In fact, asking for help is a sign of self-love.

Grateful. That’s the word today.

Dapper & Distinguished Gentlemen is honored to stand alongside Wired Youth Ministry and Bible Way Church of Atlas Road for the Safe + Seen Youth Mental Health Summit. 🖤💚

Because here’s the truth we carry every day: you can’t build character in a child who doesn’t feel safe. You can’t call out the vision in a young person who doesn’t feel seen. Mental health isn’t separate from the work — it is the work.

Our young men are carrying more than we know. The weight of expectation. The noise of the world. The battles nobody claps for. A summit like this says to them: you matter, your mind matters, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

There’s a reason you’re still here. You’ve survived every hard day you thought would break you. Every Single One!!! That’s not luck. That’s purpose holding you up when you couldn’t hold yourself.

But surviving in silence isn’t the same as healing. There’s a difference between making it through and being made whole. That’s why we talk. That’s why we get counseling. That’s why we sit in the chair and let somebody speak life over us.

We just want to encourage everyone who sees this….
everyone who may be feeling hopeless, everyone who can’t seem to see the light of day, everyone who is carrying or has carried some form of trauma. Every young man. This one is for you.

All the things you’ve been through that hurt you deeply weren’t sent to end you. They were sent to shape you. To give you purpose and a divine new beginning. Believe it or not, none of it took your life. And what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Not just for your own sake, but so you can be a living witness to someone else that it all works together for your good.

Your pain has a purpose. Your story has a reason. And your best chapter hasn’t been written yet.
