At Jeremiah School, our teachers do more than educate—they inspire, encourage, and help students discover their potential every single day.

Over the next several weeks, you'll hear directly from the educators who make our mission possible. Through their stories and experiences, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the heart of Jeremiah School and the impact happening in our classrooms every day.

We're kicking off our Teacher Spotlight Series with one of our amazing educators, Ms. Melton!

Be on the lookout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as we share new teacher testimonials and celebrate the incredible people who help our students learn, grow, and thrive.

Such a special day! On Friday we celebrated our students. In front of an audience of proud parents at the beautiful Calvary Church, we held our pinning and graduation ceremony. All our students received pins for their many achievements across the year.
This year saw our largest graduating class of seniors - 6 students who now head out to take the next step in their life journey. Unfortunately one student, Jacob, was sick and couldn’t attend his ceremony. To say we are all proud of them is an understatement; these students pushed boundaries, overcame considerable obstacles, and gained a plethora of skills and experiences. We wish them all the success and happiness in the world! 🎓🎓

We love our Jeremiah School family ❤️
On Friday we celebrated the year with our annual family cookout. Ms. Habit was master chef once again, organizing fabulous food for 150 people. Ms Shaunah was planner, organizer and referee for the much anticipated nerf battle in the park. Students, staff, and even a board member (Caleb Tull) joined and strategized to try and capture the opposing team’s flag. Finally, it was time to dunk the teachers which is always a hit with the students.
A wonderful day of connection, laughter, and friendship ❤️

Let’s get wet! Really really wet!!
Water day was a blast - literally, as students blasted each other with water guns, got dunked in the dunk tank, and played so many different watery games. Thanks to Ms Kassie for her hard work organizing it. There were a lot of soggy students and staff by the end!

Life on the farm!
One of our families has an animal rescue farm in NC, so two classes went to visit on Monday. They had a fabulous time meeting all the different animals, and learning about the rescue mission. Thank you Nikki and Scotty Campbell , and Avery, for giving our students such a great day!

This is such positive news. We are very fortunate to have ETSU in our city which offers just such a program.

For years, autism and higher education were rarely mentioned in the same sentence.

Now universities across the United States are rapidly expanding programs designed specifically for autistic students.

At Rochester Institute of Technology, the university’s Spectrum Support Program has grown by more than 1,000% since launching in 2008. What began with just a handful of students now supports more than 130 autistic students each year.

Programs like these are designed to help autistic students transition into college life successfully. Students can apply for additional support once accepted into the university, including executive functioning coaching, peer mentoring, sensory-friendly spaces, social support, career preparation, and help navigating independent living and campus routines.

And RIT is no longer alone.

The College Autism Network says more universities than ever are now building neurodiversity support initiatives as autistic students become one of the fastest-growing groups entering higher education.

For many families, the conversation is slowly shifting from:
“Will my child ever go to college?”
to:
“What kind of support will help them thrive when they get there?”
