The sun is coming back out and we are ready for St. Patrick’s Day in Jonesborough.

After a week of cold and rain, Mother Nature is finally giving us a perfect festival day. The Appalachian Highland Celts will be set up all day in Jimmy Neil Smith Park, and we would love for you to stop by and spend some time with us.

Parade at 11am!!!!
The festival kicks off with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 11 a.m. in downtown Jonesborough. Make sure you come early so you can catch the start of the celebration.

After the parade, come find us in Storytelling Park. We will be there from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Here is what we have going on:

Highland Games Demonstrations
Watch live demonstrations of traditional Highland athletics including the stone throw and sheaf toss. Our members will walk you through the techniques, history, and traditions behind these events that have been part of Celtic culture for centuries.

Celtic Culture Booth
Stop by to learn more about the Appalachian Highland Celts, explore your Scots-Irish heritage, and find out how you can get involved in preserving and celebrating Highland culture right here in Appalachia.

The full festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout downtown Jonesborough and includes the parade at 11 a.m., Highland cows, live Irish music from Sigean at 4 p.m., Irish food and drinks, a craft village, and guided history tours. Admission is free.

Wear your kilt. Wear your green. Bring the family and come celebrate with us. The weather is finally on our side.

The new date is February, 28th 2026

Thank you for your patience and understanding following the weather postponement of our Burns Dinner.

We are pleased to announce that the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 28. Securing a new date required coordinating with the venue and our vendors, and we truly appreciate your patience while those details were finalized.

Tonight's Burns Dinner Postponed Due to Weather

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for everyone’s safety, tonight’s Burns Dinner is being postponed.

Weather conditions have shifted, and the incoming snow and ice are now expected to impact travel during our event window. After speaking with the venue, the board made the decision to postpone rather than risk unsafe road conditions for our guests, volunteers, and performers.

We do not have a new date yet, but we are actively working with the venue and will announce the rescheduled date as soon as it is confirmed.

All tickets will be honored for the new date.

VIP guests will still receive their commemorative T-shirts. We will share distribution details soon.

We truly appreciate your understanding and continued support of the Appalachian Highland Celts. Your safety comes first, and we look forward to celebrating together soon under better conditions.

01/22/2026

We have been carefully monitoring the weather forecasts and, at this time, believe that the most severe conditions are expected to occur after our scheduled event. The safety and well-being of our attendees, volunteers, and community remain our highest priority.

For those who prefer to limit travel, we would like to share that the hotel hosting our event will have rooms available should you wish to stay on-site rather than travel before or after the event.

We fully understand that some individuals may not feel comfortable attending due to the potential weather, and we respect and support that decision without hesitation.

Please know that any VIP tickets purchased will still receive the promised VIP T-shirt gift. Arrangements will be made to ensure all VIP guests receive their item, regardless of attendance.

As a nonprofit organization, we are deeply grateful for the support of our community. If you are unable to attend and wish to donate the cost of your ticket to the society, your generosity would be sincerely appreciated and will directly support our mission.

Thank you for your understanding, kindness, and continued commitment to our cause. We are truly grateful to be part of such a supportive community.

01/20/2026

We have been monitoring the situation in regards to the weather for this weekend. Our board of directors is in contact with the venue for possible rescheduling dates. Should we have to postpone, we will have it posted on our page by Thursday evening! Stay warm!
