George L. Carter Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society The George L. Carter Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society is affiliated with the Johnson City Railroad Experience.

The Chapter has monthly meetings with a variety of programs and plans regional rail fanning excursions each Spring and Fall.

If you or someone is stuck on the railroad tracks, for any reason, there is a blue sign on each of the railroad crossing signs with the emergency number and the crossing number. Waving a red hat or anything will not stop the train. Calling the emergency number will.

The headlights of Norfolk Southern Reading Lines Heritage Unit #1067 cuts through the early morning fog as it rolls through Downtown Johnson City. We are now entering the final stretch till the Big Train Show comes to town!!
