🌧️ **WEATHER UPDATE: Davy Crockett Birthplace Service Day**

We're keeping an eye on the forecast! Our restoration work day at David Crockett Birthplace State Park on October 10 will now run from *9 AM–1 PM* due to the weather outlook.

β˜” *Please bring rain gear* and come prepared for wet conditions.

We'll be monitoring the weather throughout the morning and may need to wrap up earlier than 1 PM if conditions require it. This adjustment follows guidance from the park rangers, and safety remains our priority.

Thank you for being flexible and helping us continue this important restoration work. We'll see you Saturdayβ€”rain or shine, as conditions safely allow! 🌱

πŸ”₯ SCOUTING IS BETTER AROUND THE FIRE.

Let’s be honest: sometimes you don’t need another meeting. You need a place to sit down with other Scouters, swap stories, talk through what’s actually happening in your unit, and maybe discover that *you’re not the only one dealing with it.*

That’s Iron & Embers.

No formal agenda. No PowerPoint marathon. No β€œsit quietly and listen.” Just Scouters in the trenches, sharing ideas, solving problems, telling stories, and building the kind of connections that make Scouting better.

πŸ”₯ Come as you are. Bring a story. Bring a problem. Bring an idea. Or just come hang out.

πŸ“… November 14 | 9 AM–5 PM

We’d love to see more of our Sequoyah Council leaders around the fire.

πŸ‘» HEY, PACKS! We’ve got a little Halloween recruiting magic for you! πŸŽƒ

Your next Cub Scout might be hiding at a Trunk-or-Treat, fall festival, or Halloween event near you… so we made it a little easier to invite them to Scouting!

πŸ‘» Our Halloween-themed Cub Scout recruiting bookmarks are ready for your Pack! They even have space for your Pack to add your meeting information.

🍬 Hand them out with the candy.
πŸŽƒ Tuck them into treat bags.
πŸ‘» Leave one with every family who asks, β€œWhat is Cub Scouts?”

Packs can pick up their bookmarks at the Sequoyah Council Service Center.

πŸ“… After October 16, any remaining bookmarks will be available to Packs on a first-come, first-served basis.

Need to make pickup arrangements? Contact Jennifer Heath.

🌱 More than two years later, the work continues.

When Hurricane Helene devastated our region in 2024, David Crockett Birthplace State Park was among the places impacted. Today, the work of restoring the park is still underway.
On October 10, Sequoyah Lodge will be at the park helping transplant sycamore and goldenrod saplings as part of that ongoing restoration.
And this project carries a little extra meaning for us. Our council’s Camp Davy Crockett carries the name of the legendary Tennessean whose 240th birthday is being marked this year.
The Scout Oath calls us to β€œhelp other people at all times.” This is one way we can put those words into actionβ€”and help care for a piece of Tennessee history in the process.

🌳 Come lend a hand!
πŸ“… October 10 | 9 AM–3 PM
πŸ“ David Crockett Birthplace State Park
Scouts, Scouters, units and volunteers are welcome.

πŸ‘‰ Be part of the restoration. Be part of the legacy.
