Congratulations to all of the student teams who participated in ETSU Elevates! We loved seeing the ideas, hard work, and impact that each team brought to their communities through their projects.

A special congratulations to Sophie Greear '28 and her teammate Emily Jenkins, whose project, Play It Forward, earned first place! We’re also proud to celebrate Addison Bays '29, who presented The Gateway.

Last Friday, we gathered for our annual Summer Showcase, celebrating months of service, exploration, and impact across the Roan community.

Roans from the Class of 2029 shared reflections from their Summer of Service experiences, reflecting on the communities they joined, the challenges they encountered, and how those experiences shaped their understanding of service and leadership. We also heard from Roans in the Classes of 2027 and 2028 who used Extraordinary Opportunity Grants to pursue ambitious experiences connected to their interests, goals, and plans for the future.

A special thank you to Eastman Credit Union for its continued support of meaningful summer experiences for Roan Scholars!

Mountain hikes, birding, salamander scouting, Come From Away, and plenty of time for reflection and connection. This year’s Physical Vigor Weekend took Roan Scholars from the trails of Whitetop Mountain and Grayson Highlands to conversations about growth, leadership, and the people alongside us.

Across three days, Roans stepped outside their normal routines, spent time together in the mountains, and continued exploring three themes woven throughout the Roan Experience: courage, challenge, and responsibility.

A special thank you to our friends at Blue Ridge Discovery Center for hosting us and helping make the weekend possible!
We loved seeing (Cade Campbell '24) in his element, too!
