🌞 FREE Summer Camp! 🌞

We’re so excited to invite your family to Camp in the Community (CITC) — a completely FREE summer camp where kids can learn, grow, and have an unforgettable week!
📅 June 22–26
⏰ 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Friday pick-up at 2:00 PM)

Throughout the week, your child will enjoy:
🎉 Recreation & games
🎨 Crafts & creative activities
🔥 Campfires & classic summer camp fun
🤝 Small group experiences that build friendships and connection

We intentionally use a small group model to create a fun, nurturing environment where every child is known and cared for. Our well-trained staff ensures kids are engaged, supported, and supervised at all times.

CITC is accredited by the American Camp Association and follows strict safety guidelines, including safe sanctuary practices—so you can feel confident your child will have a safe, exciting, and meaningful week.

Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the flooding in Cocke County. ❤️
If your family has been affected, support is available:

• Newport Grammar School Family Resource Center has food, clothing, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies available for NGS families in need. Contact Amy Messer by phone, email, or Messenger for assistance.
• Centerview School and Parrottsville School are open as shelters for families unable to get into town.
• Empower Cocke County is also open and providing flood relief support today.

Please share to help spread the word to families who may need assistance.

Newport Grammar School Family Resource Center is available to any NGS family affected by the flood and in need. We have food, clothing, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items available. Please reach out to Amy Messer by messenger, email, or phone.
-Centerview School and Parrottsville School are currently open as a shelter if your family is cut off from town.
-Finally, Empower Cocke County is open today and set up to provide flood relief.

🚂 The Big Train Show is back for its 10th year! Join the fun at the ETSU Mini-Dome for a weekend full of model trains, interactive layouts, and over 80 vendors with hundreds of tables to explore.

📍 May 29 | 12PM–6PM
📍 May 30 | 10AM–4PM

Bring the whole family and enjoy this community favorite event!

Back again for the 10th year is the Big Train Show! Showcasing over 80 vendors with over 300 tables and operating travelling train layouts in several scales, this event will take place in the ETSU Mini-Dome, May 29th 12:00PM-6:00PM and May 30th 10:00AM-4:00PM. Come join us with this fun event!

☀️ FREE Summer Meals are coming to Carter County Schools! ☀️

Beginning May 27, Carter County School Nutrition will once again provide FREE meals for any child 18 years old and younger through the Summer Meal Program at Hampton Elementary School.

Families can pick up multiple days’ worth of breakfast and lunch during designated distribution times each week. We are so thankful for our School Nutrition staff and all they do to help serve our students and community throughout the summer months!

As we close out another incredible school year, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all of our students, families, teachers, administrators, and staff for the love and support you have shown the Washington County Schools Nutrition Program throughout the year. 💙

It has truly been an honor to serve alongside such hardworking, caring people who show up every day to make a difference in the lives of children. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, every smile, kind word, and helping hand reminds us why we do what we do. We are so thankful for the opportunity to work together in serving the amazing Washington County community.

To our students — thank you for brightening our cafeterias each day with your laughter, energy, and kindness. To our families — thank you for trusting us to care for and nourish your children. And to our school staff and nutrition teams — thank you for your dedication, teamwork, and heart. This year would not have been possible without each and every one of you.

Even though the school year is ending, we are excited to continue serving our community throughout the summer! ☀️🌭🍎

• Boones Creek Elementary
• Jonesborough Elementary

June 3, 10, 17, & 24
July 1, 8, & 15

Time:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

✅ Any child under 18 is eligible.
✅ Meals are picked up and taken home.

🔹 Summer School Curbside Meals
Location:
• Jonesborough Elementary

Dates:
Mondays–Thursdays during June & July

Times:
🍳 Breakfast: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
🥪 Lunch: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

✅ Any child under 18 is eligible.
✅ Meals must be eaten on site.

We are proud to continue caring for our students and families all summer long and look forward to seeing many smiling faces in the weeks ahead.
