We are a diverse group of sewists who meet monthly to learn, sew and share their talents with each other and the community through charity sewing projects.

Sew Crazy is a group of sewists who meet monthly to work on projects to benefit the community, be it cancer caps, stuffed animals for children's programs, or cat hammocks for animal shelters. Now beginning their sixth year, the group is supported by both monetary donations as well as donations of materials that come from many sources such as retiring sewers, estates and also by a local shop, Bernina In Stitches. The group is open to sewists of any experience level and anyone who would like to learn more is welcome to attend a meeting. Sew Crazy had a special Sit- n-Sew today to work on mastectomy aprons . Thanks to our 2 new friends, Emily Smith and Pam for joining Donna Horowitz in the sewing . In addition, we thank Cindy Tipton for the use of her space at Cindy's Crafts .
We still have a few aprons left to sew . Want to help ? Join us at our next Sew Crazy meeting on Saturday, Oct 17 from 10 am to 2pm to crank out these last few! A delicious potluck Autumn themed lunch will be provided.

Yesterday Sew Crazy celebrated 🥳 our 16th year as a group who sews for others in need within the Tri Cities. ( 10 yrs as a nonprofit) .We started on our annual project- mastectomy aprons for both men & women.
In addition, we had our birthday luncheon with the " special cake " . Fun hats were an option.
We still need help making the aprons . Turn in is in November. We will have them available for our next Sit -n- Sew in October for those who wish to join us .

Sew Crazy needs your help TOMORROW- Saturday, Sept. 19 as we work on our goal of making 100 mastectomy aprons to be distributed within the Tri- Cities . The hospital sysytem distributes all we make each year to both men and women undergoing cancer treatment . Please , please consider joining us for a sewing session ! The kits are already cut- we just need folks who can use their sewing machine for a basic , easy project .
We start at 10am with a special free lunch to celebrate our 16th year of sewing for others in need . Location : Bethlehem Lutheran church in JC . 2 door down from Jenny Lea Acadamy

Reminder : Our 16th year celebration meeting is next Saturday, Sept. 19 . We will be making the mastectomy aprons that are requested every year by our local hospital system. As part of the fun for the day - we ask everyone to wear some sort of creative hat ! 😀 Sew Crazy is providing the pizza🍕 & cake 🎂.
The day starts at 10 am . Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing tools and join in for fellowship !

Time for a Sew Crazy delivery ! This past week Sew Crazy members Deborah & Kathy stopped by the Unicoi Animal Shelter to drop off : 23 @ dog and cat covers for the comfort of those 4 legged friends awaiting their forever home. Shelter associate Molly helped to display the group's efforts .
The Unicoi Shelter has recently reopened after being destroyed by Hurricane Helene in Sept. 2024 .
Thanks to all our Sew Crazy members who worked on this project in June /July .

National Sewing month and the 16th year of Sew Crazy ! 😄🎉🎊
Come join us as we make mastectomy aprons for the first part of our monthly meeting . We have our birthday celebration for lunch- pizza, salad and cake ! 🎂
No cost, kits already cut - all supplies provided. ( you still need to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing tools )

August is a hot month but we stayed nice and cool as we started a new project at Saturday's meeting - pillowcases and IV bag covers . Our goal is 50 each . They are headed to the Children's Hospital in JC . Turn in will be at our October meeting.
It was turn in for the lined shawls with pockets . 20 + were returned for individuals connected to the Home Again program .
In September Sew Crazy will celebrate 16 years of sewing for charitable organizations within the Tri- Cities. Its always a 🥳 party and hope you can join us !

It was back to business at Saturday's July meeting . Members in attendance ( 12) started on a new project - lined shawls with patch pockets . These will be heading to Home Instead Senior Care in August. Group President Debra was on hand to get everyone started on this easy to sew project . Our goal is 25 shawls .
