IF IT BE POSSIBLE
Romans 12:18 — “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
Paul acknowledges an important reality when he says, “If it be possible.” The believer is responsible for pursuing peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness, but peace requires participation from more than one person.
The Bible provides a clear path toward restoration, and Christians should faithfully follow that path. We are to seek reconciliation and extend forgiveness whenever possible. However, there are times when others refuse peace regardless of our efforts.
Some people thrive on conflict, division, and drama. They are unwilling to pursue peace and determined to continue strife. In such situations, believers cannot force reconciliation where reconciliation is rejected.
Our responsibility is to do what Scripture requires and leave the results to God. If peace is impossible because of another person's refusal, we must continue walking in obedience without becoming like the unwilling party.
