Our Behavioral Health team is honored to donate $50,000 to the Children's Advocacy Center of the 1st Judicial District to help fund a therapist position supporting children and families in our region.

The center provides a safe, child-focused environment and brings together medical professionals, counselors and community partners to help those facing difficult circumstances.

This investment will help strengthen access to behavioral health support for kids when they need it most.

We're grateful for the important work the Child Advocacy Center does every day and proud to support their continued service to our community!

Some of the most common things we hear from adults out in the community is: “I wasn’t sure if I should report it” “I didn’t know if I had enough” “I wasn’t sure if that would count as abuse” “I was told not to report it” “If I report it nothing will happen anyway”

We understand it can be hard to know when to report and easy to get discouraged. As listed in the takeaways, the bottom line is that YOU are a mandatory reporter. Even if you don’t have all the details about the perpetrator and the child’s demographics, report it. If you’re worried about the child’s safety, report it. If they are injured, report it! 📞

It’s always best to report. When you make a report, the worst thing that happens is that your report doesn’t go through because it’s not considered child abuse based on TN state law. If you don’t report, the worst thing that happens is you are charged with failure to report and the child continues to experience abuse.

Technology use in childhood can be brain altering. It can affect academic learning, impact social learning, increase victimization, reduce attention spans and lead to desensitization to violence. 📲

There are positive ways to use technology as a tool to learn and connect. But we must be responsible for our children’s wellbeing and learn more as technology advances. Tech isn’t slowing down so we can’t either! 🎮

Make the decision today to learn more. Child safety is not just in person. It’s online too!
