🌧️ **WEATHER UPDATE: Davy Crockett Birthplace Service Day**

We're keeping an eye on the forecast! Our restoration work day at David Crockett Birthplace State Park on October 10 will now run from *9 AM–1 PM* due to the weather outlook.

☔ *Please bring rain gear* and come prepared for wet conditions.

We'll be monitoring the weather throughout the morning and may need to wrap up earlier than 1 PM if conditions require it. This adjustment follows guidance from the park rangers, and safety remains our priority.

Thank you for being flexible and helping us continue this important restoration work. We'll see you Saturday—rain or shine, as conditions safely allow! 🌱

🔥 SCOUTING IS BETTER AROUND THE FIRE.

Let’s be honest: sometimes you don’t need another meeting. You need a place to sit down with other Scouters, swap stories, talk through what’s actually happening in your unit, and maybe discover that *you’re not the only one dealing with it.*

That’s Iron & Embers.

No formal agenda. No PowerPoint marathon. No “sit quietly and listen.” Just Scouters in the trenches, sharing ideas, solving problems, telling stories, and building the kind of connections that make Scouting better.

🔥 Come as you are. Bring a story. Bring a problem. Bring an idea. Or just come hang out.

📅 November 14 | 9 AM–5 PM
📍 Camp Davy Crockett

We’d love to see more of our Sequoyah Council leaders around the fire.

55 REASONS WE LOVE CAMP DAVY CROCKETT
#37: Freddy’s Place
noun | \ˈfre-dēz ˈplās\
1. A special place where Scouts gather to learn, cook, laugh, and make memories.
2. A place built to honor a man who dedicated his life to helping shape the next generation.
3. At Camp Davy Crockett: a little piece of Freddy’s love for camp that continues to live on.
Tucked into the woods near the STEM Center, Freddy’s Place honors the memory of a man who loved Camp Davy Crockett deeply.
Freddy served as Camp Director for many years. A retired kindergarten teacher, he spent his life helping shape the next generation-both in the classroom and through Scouting.
Built in his honor on the original site of the Camp Commissioner Corps, Freddy’s Place continues that legacy today. ❤️
During summer camp, it serves as the primary home of Cooking Merit Badge, where Scouts get hands-on, learn new skills, and-hopefully-discover that cooking over a camp stove is a lot more fun than doing dishes at home. 😉
A place built to honor. A place still helping shape Scouts. A place with plenty of stories left to tell.
🏕️ Define your adventure.

👻 HEY, PACKS! We’ve got a little Halloween recruiting magic for you! 🎃

Your next Cub Scout might be hiding at a Trunk-or-Treat, fall festival, or Halloween event near you… so we made it a little easier to invite them to Scouting!

👻 Our Halloween-themed Cub Scout recruiting bookmarks are ready for your Pack! They even have space for your Pack to add your meeting information.

🍬 Hand them out with the candy.
🎃 Tuck them into treat bags.
👻 Leave one with every family who asks, “What is Cub Scouts?”

Packs can pick up their bookmarks at the Sequoyah Council Service Center.

📅 After October 16, any remaining bookmarks will be available to Packs on a first-come, first-served basis.

Need to make pickup arrangements? Contact Jennifer Heath.
