Dear Shakerag Homeowners,
We want to make you aware of a matter that, while not directly associated with the Shakerag HOA or any of our four subdivisions (Amberleigh, Devonhall, Huntington, and Laurelwood), could potentially impact our community.
You may have noticed signs around the neighborhood referencing a website: SaveShakerag.org. This site outlines concerns regarding a proposed zoning variance and a new residential development near the intersection of Rogers Bridge Road and Bell Road in Johns Creek. The developer is seeking to increase housing density in an area that has historically been low-density and semi-rural in character.
🔎 What We Know
• The proposed project, known as Embry Farm, would involve a significant rezoning request to allow for a much denser residential layout than currently permitted under existing zoning laws.
• Community advocates have raised concerns regarding increased traffic, strain on infrastructure, school overcrowding, and the potential negative impact on property values and quality of life.
• A Johns Creek City Council public meeting is scheduled for Monday, where the variance request will be discussed and considered.
The Board's Position
The Shakerag HOA Board does not take a formal stance on rezoning efforts outside our jurisdiction. However, we remain committed to our mission of protecting property values and enhancing quality of life in and around our neighborhood.
We encourage all residents to:
• Inform yourselves by reviewing the available public information at SaveShakerag.org,
• Consider the potential impacts—positive or negative—this development could have on our community,
• Make your voices heard by attending the City Council meeting and expressing your views, whether in support or opposition.
🗓 Council Meeting Details
• Date: Monday May 19
• Location: Johns Creek City Hall
• Time: 7:00 pm
🙏 Stay Involved
The strength of our community lies in our residents’ engagement. Please continue to stay informed, share your perspectives, and participate in decisions that affect the greater Shakerag area.
Sincerely,
The Shakerag HOA Board
