Grief Tip Tuesday
First, we would like to send our heartfelt condolences out to the Duby and VanCleave families. Two men, well known in our community, and an influence in many lives. Whether you are family, friends, or community members that simply feel the loss as if these men were your family, please know you are not alone. Please reach out if you are struggling.
October is quickly coming to an end. We know that many of us are asking why such unimaginable loss happens at any time, but especially when the holiday season is upon us. When we are grieving, we are grasping at any little thing we possibly can to ease our pain in some way. Sometimes, it can be very frustrating because people say things that seem uncaring and hurtful. It isn't always easy to give another person grace when you feel like they are purposefully saying something to hurt you, but try to remember that most people just simply don't know what to say to someone that have suffered such a loss. People feel obligated to say "something" to fill the silence when they see you. I have learned to say, "there are no words that I can say that will ease your pain right now, but please know that I am here for whatever you might need, and if that is just listening while you scream and cry, then that is ok too". Maybe they just need your presence. Someone to sit in silence with them. Whatever they need, it is their grief journey, and it is ok.
