Dough Joe Bakery will be closed this Friday, August 1, while we head north to the Upper Peninsula for our annual wild-blueberry harvest. We’ll reopen with limited product on Sunday, August 3, once all the buckets are full and the truck is back in the driveway.
Those berries aren’t just for a weekend treat. We freeze and dry a good share so they can show up all year in cookies, rolls, hand pies, and—most of all—our Michigan Berry Sourdough. Every August we ferment a fresh batch of wild-berry yeast water, transform it to our house starter, and let the magic happen… turning out a loaf that’s slightly tangy, creamy, nutty with michigan walnuts, and only shows up once the cultures are ready. Look for that limited run late August into early September.
Thanks for sticking with us while we pick. See you Sunday ...and get ready for berry season at the Shed.
