Our sweet old girls! Baby (red mare) is over 32 years and she and our old gal Peppy are attached at the hip now. Baby lost her vision in her right eye due to uveitis but we were able to get the inflammation under control so she is comfortable now and doing well…she does stay very close to Peppy (25 years old).

The funniest thing about baby…she prefers those simple white livestock salt blocks over the pink rocks that a lot of our other horses love. She’s a retired roping/cow horse…so I’m sure it’s the simple comforts of what she was used too…

A common misconception about 501c3 horse rescues, I am coming to find out, is that people believe we automatically receive grants, free services and have stockpiles of money to be able to take any and every unwanted or neglected horse.

That could not be further from the truth. We DO NOT receive free veterinary care, horse training, or farrier care. We DO NOT get free truckloads of feed or hay to meet the demands of all of our horses on a daily basis.

We have been fortunate enough to have very gracious people donate funds and supplies when they are able. We are grateful for that. We have had businesses work to help us find the best pricing for needed items. We have people who provide suggestions and advice leading us additional service providers. As we grow we will be eligible to apply for grants but there is no guarantee that we will get them.

Our founders provide the primary funding to operate the rescue. We cannot and will not take on more horses than we can provide appropriate care for. Overextending and overwhelming ourselves will not help horses in the end. We hope to continue to grow and be able to network with other rescues to provide the greatest impact for improving equine health and welfare.

It takes a tremendous amount of work and support. So many rescues have failed and many have tarnished the world of horse rescue by taking advantage and putting horses in worse situations than where they came from. It’s frustrating and makes it harder for small rescues working to build but we will continue to do what we can.

Social media is one of the hardest things to navigate because there are so many ill willed people just out to be hateful and negative or take advantage when this is something very serious to us and so many others.

Dottie, you are amazing. I’m sorry you went through so much and how you managed to hang on to and for that baby is incredible. We are so thankful you ended up here and you are such an amazing momma!
No worries Dottie,
You and your baby Scooter are in good hands and at your forever safe place.

Dottie has been determined to be approximately mid 20’s. She came here emaciated and covered in skin sores/ulcers. She was terribly head shy and had obviously been mistreated, mishandled and terribly neglected.
She became very close to us, coming to the back door to let us know it was feeding time. We had no idea the precious package she was carrying but they are safe, healthy and doing very well!

They do require a lot of special TLC so if you are comfortably able to donate, it is very much appreciated.
Likes, shares and follows are always appreciated and so helpful to us!

Cuteness overload with Scooter. His fave songs so far are “Do You Believe in Magic?” and “Choosin’ Texas.” They make him stop, perk up his ears and come check out the phone, or maybe he just wants me to skip over them 😉🤔🥰

We love our Dottie girl and the sweet miracle she gave us with her baby, Scooter. He needed just a little extra help from the vet but sweet Dottie did the absolute toughest parts. We are gradually increasing her feed/alfalfa to safely meet the needs of her and baby boy. They are safe and sound…he is such a sassy pants!
