I know Rep. Moreshead and respect the dedication she has shown the Waterford RTM - but hate has no home in Waterford, and this hateful belief, regardless of how it originated in her mind, cannot stand in any government or in our town. We call things "cancer" when we believe they should be eradicated - how horrifying a sentiment to share about any religious group.

The Waterford CT Democrats, as I'd demand of any political party, including my own, must call for the resignation of anyone who shares such hateful views. We must work together across all political parties to Erase Hate.

Ursula Moreshead is also an advanced clinical social worker with the Department of Children and Families office in Norwich.

Dennis, Chair of the Wi******er Economic Development Commission my entire tenure as Town Manager and a member of the commission up until the day he died, was an engine for his community and achievement. I was always impressed by his dedication to forward momentum, to collaboration and teamwork, and to the people around him. I'm so sad I didn't get to thank him one more time for the work he did for Wi******er - he's one of the many people I miss dearly from my time there.

Rest in peace, Dennis.

This Indigenous Peoples' Day, I'm particularly humbled and glad to have had the chance to work with and for the people of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation over the past few months. It's very rewarding to learn more about the people and their culture and to know that the work we're doing in classrooms at the Mashantucket Pequot Child Development Center is helping to increase knowledge and pride in culture and self worth in the minds of scores of indigenous children.

Indigenous lives, culture, and people matter - I'm very happy to celebrate those facts this day.

If you were wondering what I'm up to next on the stage, the wait is over - I'm really excited to take this on in January!!!

"Well, hello there. And welcome - to URINETOWN! Not the place, of course. The musical." πŸ’§πŸ’°πŸ§» BCP is thrilled to share that the concert will be none other than Mark Hollman and Greg Kotis's hilarious musical satire of capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, the privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself!

Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, URINETOWN recently celebreated its 25th anniversary, but remains as topical as ever. πŸ—“οΈ Mark your calendars for January 15th-17th, 2027!

Today is Every Child Matters Day, also known as Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, observed annually on September 30.

This day honors Indigenous children who were forced to attend residential and boarding schools, remembers those who never returned, and recognizes the enduring impact on survivors, families, and communities.

The movement began from the experience of Phyllis Webstad in 1973. When she was 6 years old, she arrived at a residential school in British Columbia, Canada, wearing a bright orange shirt her grandmother bought her. The school took it away and never returned it, symbolizing how the system stripped away Indigenous identities, culture, and language.

The phrase "Every Child Matters" emerged from her story to affirm that Indigenous children and their experiences are valuable.

You can show your support today and in future years by wearing an orange shirt on September 30th as a symbol of remembrance, solidarity, and a commitment to ongoing reconciliation and education.

It was moving to be at the Mashantucket Pequot Child Development Center today for the observance of this meaningful day. Every Child Matters!!!

My dad was inducted into the West Tech High School (Cleveland, OH) Hall of Fame last night, and I couldn't be more proud.

I had the privilege of joining my parents this weekend for a long drive out to Cleveland, my dad's hometown, for the occasion. The recognition isn't surprising to any extent - his contributions to West Tech as an athlete (football, wrestling, skiing, hockey, and more), performer (Jesus in Godspell, '76), and student body president ('76-'77) are deserving of the honor in and of themselves, but the 47 consecutive years he spent working in 10 different colleges and universities thereafter, improving the educational experiences of likely hundreds of thousands of students over that period of time, is the best kind of legacy anyone can leave in this life.

My dad is the kind of person who gives all - all his time, all his focus, and all his heart into the things he cares about, and the world is such a far better place because he cares so deeply about service to others. It's my foundation for my entire worldview, my career, and the life I'm always striving to build for myself. For being the best role model and dad to boot, I will always be grateful.

This distinction is so well deserved, and I'm so glad I could be here to celebrate this achievement with him. I love you, Dad ❀️

I had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Manresa Wilds in Norwalk, CT this week to learn about how the nonprofit overseeing the site of the decommissioned fossil fuel power plant is working hard to bring the site back to life for the community, with the creation of nature trails, new habitats, public beachfront, community gathering space, playground space for the whole family, and more. It was a powerful reminder of how some of the greatest challenges we face can become our greatest assets, and how intertwined the environment is with community action and development.

Tours are open to the public at Manresa - reach out to learn more. I recommend you go see the site, get inspired, and think about how such concepts could be put to best use here on our side of the state!
