Honored to partner with Griswold Public Schools in securing an underage ni****ne prevention grant for the upcoming school year.
Last night, the Board of Education recognized our coordinator, Miranda Mahoney, for her work supporting youth substance use prevention efforts in our community. Weโre grateful for the collaboration and commitment to keeping our students healthy, informed, and supported.
This grant will help expand prevention education and continue building a healthier future for Griswold youth. ๐

At the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, May 28, Superintendent McKenna and the BOE voted to accept grant funding to support student wellness and recognized community partner Miranda Mahoney from Griswold PRIDE for helping secure the grant for our school district.
Griswold Public Schools and the Griswold PRIDE Coalition have been awarded a $10,000 grant through the SERAC Underage Ni****ne Prevention Program (UNPP), funded by Juul Settlement funds with support from the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. This grant will support a collaborative effort to strengthen ni****ne prevention and student wellness across the district by bringing expanded, evidence-based ni****ne prevention programming into schools, increasing access to student intervention and support services, and providing screening tools and training for school staff.
The initiative will also include a student-led PhotoVoice project in collaboration with the Griswold High School Photography Department, giving students the opportunity to explore and share how va**ng impacts their lives, their school, and the broader community.
By focusing on education, early support, and youth engagement, this work reflects a shared commitment to moving Griswold Forward. Thank you to Miranda Mahoney and members of the GPS faculty for helping secure this grant.
