Our community has something truly special to celebrate. Many did not even know we had an upper parking lot and we did not have a safe path to it. Thanks to Rory, our new pathway is complete after months of planning, and it stands as a testament to teamwork, generosity, and a tremendous amount of hard work. This project would not have been possible without Rory, completing his Eagle Scout Project, Scouts, Leaders, Families, Community Members and Savage Stone.
Rory led this effort with true Eagle‑level leadership. As he shared:
“Thank you everyone for the very generous support of my Eagle project in both donations and your time. I appreciate all of it. We totaled 258 volunteer hours. The project looks great and is already being enjoyed.”
The amount of work and material that went into this project is remarkable:
Materials and Support
- Approximately 500 cubic feet of crushed stone donated by Savage Stone for the path alone (not including the upper parking lot work they also supported)
- Approximately 1,500 square feet of landscape fabric
- Approximately 600 linear feet of metal edging
- Approximately 80 pressure‑treated 6"x6"x96" posts
- Approximately 600 linear feet of 1‑inch twisted Manila rope
- Machinery and an operator from Savage Stone to grade the pathway, move stone, and dig post holes
- Tree removal and stump grinding covered by Ridgely’s Run
Work Completed
- Stone delivery from Savage Stone and brush‑hogging the path
- Clearing brush, trimming trees with hand tools, and marking the path
- Digging post holes as marked by the Scouts
- Site cleanup throughout the project
- Installing metal edging and landscape fabric
- Setting all fence posts
- Distributing and spreading bulk stone along the entire path
- Installing the rope fencing and adding solar lights to complete the project
This was a true community effort. Savage Stone went above and beyond with materials, equipment, and hands‑on help. The Scouts showed up with commitment and teamwork. And Rory’s leadership brought all of these moving parts together to create something meaningful and lasting.
The path is already being enjoyed by families, kids, and visitors, and it will serve our community for years to come. Thank you to everyone who contributed time, materials, muscle, and support. This is what community looks like.
