The McGinley Square Partnership Special Improvement District, created by City Ordinance in 1997, is comprised of commercial properties located in the area just south of Journal Square and bordered to the east by the Jersey City Medical Center, to the west by Saint Peter's University, and to the south by Fairview Avenue. Included within our district are Hudson Catholic Regional High School, the Jer

sey City National Armory, Saint Aedan's Church and Cornerstone Elementary School, the Old Bergen Church, and several other landmarks. The core of the district is the Montgomery Street/Bergen Avenue intersection with McGinley Square Park at its northeast quadrant. The district has undertaken a massive facelift thanks to a multi-million-dollar streetscape of new sidewalks and lighting along Bergen Avenue and a beautiful blockfront building facade program sponsored by the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation. We have also seen the opening and expansion of The Beacon Condos and loft spaces as a great addition to the neighborhood. Peter's University has recently taken over St. Aedan's Church as their home church. They have added a new student center on Montgomery Street and are currently working on plans for a gothic style tower in the parking logon Montgomery Street just across from The JC Armory building. Meanwhile, the Partnership funds promotional, cleaning, decorative lighting, and management activities through a self-imposed assessment and funding from the Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone. We have over 120 shops, services, and food establishments to make your shopping experience a pleasant one. Several New Jersey Transit buses make your travel a convenient one; limited off- and on-street surface parking is also available. Come visit and enjoy!

🍦 This is what investing in a district looks like.

The McGinley Square Partnership is proud to bring the Harvest Market to the Heart of Jersey City — creating a place where local farmers, food vendors, artists, musicians, makers, and small businesses can come together every week in the center of our district.

From fresh produce and food trucks to handmade soaps, candles, vintage clothing, sweet treats, and live music, the Harvest Market is helping activate public space, support local businesses, and bring new energy to McGinley Square.

As the first market of its kind in the district, we’re inviting the entire community to come out, shop local, and experience everything McGinley Square has to offer.

Right here in McGinley Square, FREEDOM by artist Lawrence Ciarallo stands as a reminder that art, music, and creativity are part of what gives a neighborhood its identity. Dedicated to Richie Havens, Stanley Krause, and the many individuals who contributed to the musical history of our region, the mural reflects the creative energy that continues to live throughout Jersey City.
