A late post, but a huge thank you to Hudson County Complete Streets for inviting us to participate in the North Jersey Transit Forum and helping create space for an important conversation about the future of the Bergen Arches and connected greenway infrastructure in Jersey City.
We were excited to display the Bergen Arches 3D printed model created by NJIT students, which helped community members, planners, and political leadership better understand the scale, history, and potential of this hidden corridor.
As part of the forum, we traveled by public transit to 626 Summit Ave, where we were generously given access to a viewing platform overlooking the Bergen Arches. From there, Chris Gratto and Rahid Cornejo led a discussion about the future possibilities of the corridor, including the community’s push to connect future bus plans into the existing Route 139.
We also appreciated the opportunity to briefly speak with Congressman Rob Menendez and NJ Transit Commissioner Priya Jain, and we hope to continue discussions with them about the future of the site and its role within a larger regional transportation and greenway network.
Thank you again to Hudson County Complete Streets and the City of Jersey City for supporting conversations about the future of public infrastructure, transit, and open space in our city.
