Tenant Listening Session – Saturday, Sept 6

Are you or someone you know facing housing issues or living in a rent-controlled apartment?

Join us for a Tenant Listening Session on Saturday, September 6th from 10am–1pm at Old Bergen Church.

We’ll hear from legal experts from The Waterfront Project and Rutgers Law about Jersey City’s rent control laws and how to protect long-term tenants from displacement by predatory landlords.

There will also be space to share stories, receive support, and take action together.

Let’s stand for justice and housing dignity in our city. All are welcome!

VICTORY FOR TENANTS. JUSTICE IN JERSEY CITY.

The tenants of 336 New York Avenue stood tall and in solidarity with the community— and they WON.
Backed by Jersey City Together, New Jersey Together, and the relentless legal advocacy of Elizabeth Hurley from The Waterfront Project, these courageous rent-controlled tenants exposed a landlord’s shameful campaign of harassment — and the system finally responded.

Jersey Mountains 6 LLC / Holland Management, owned and operated by Eleuther Feldman (alias Simon Feldman) and his hired property manager, Zevy Stein, were DENIED a hardship rent increase after overwhelming evidence of abuse, negligence, and manipulation.

From planting dead fish and f***s to alleged coordinated break-ins and deliberate plumbing destruction — this landlord weaponized misery to push tenants out. But thanks to the strength of the tenants and a coalition that refused to be silent, Jersey City did the right thing.

A HUGE WIN FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN JERSEY CITY! 🏠

Bayfront Promenade has broken ground — and it’s making history.

210 homes are coming, and 80% will be affordable or workforce housing — the highest percentage in the nation for a private mixed-income development.
This didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of years of organizing, relentless advocacy, and community vision.

Jersey City Together — alongside the Bayfront Advisory Board, our own Uche Akpa, and powerful partners like Mayor Steven Fulop, JCRA, Pennrose, PATHS Development, Greater Bergen Community Action, and NJHMFA — fought to make sure this land serves the people.

We demanded more.
We stayed at the table.
And today, it's the people’s voice that is breaking ground.
