Eligibility for membership
Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence. If you believe you have a patriot in your family tree, or have located an ancestor who was a Revolutionary patriot, the registrar of a chapter in your area can help you complete your research and your membership application.

When you join the DAR, you enter a network of more than 185,000 women who form lifelong bonds, honor their revolutionary ancestors and promote historic preservation, education and patriotism in their communities.
