“The list of over 60 donors was disclosed the day after Mayor Steven Fulop told HCV that Grow Jersey City, the non-profit arm of the local Economic Development Corporation, paid for him and seven other local officials to go to the capital of France last month.”

Jersey City has released the list of donors that gave over $1,000 each to a group that paid for 8 officials to travel to Paris last month.

Who funded the trip to Paris?
In an interview with Mayor Fulop regarding the a trip to Paris for Pompidou, Fulop revealed information about the trip that many had questioned including who paid for the trip and information on the itinerary that we OPRAd on February 22nd. See below.

Much of what was said could have easily been disclosed to the JCTimes when they sought information from the City about the trip in a transparent manner which residents are deserving of.
The City and mayor have a duty to keep the public informed about matters of the city openly and in a non adversarial manner as public servants.

The interview with Hudson County View reports that the funding source was a fund established by the JCEDC however, the question of who funded it has still not been answered. Who were the donors to the fund?

In a Memorandum of Understanding with Pompidou, Jersey City would pay Pompidou $6million per year for five years which comes on the heels of a property tax increase of approximately 30%.

While Pompidou is free to open a museum in Jersey City, why are tax payers subsidizing it?

This brings us to our next questions… why are we not opening a museum based on Jersey City history? Where are the artifacts of the original JC Museum?

Staring in 2023, water charges will be billed monthly.

“With the number of Jersey City water customers falling behind on their payments nearly doubling, the city’s Municipality Utilities Authority (MUA) and Veolia are transitioning residents’ water bills from quarterly to monthly billing — a move officials say will help property owners pay down their debt.”

“Monthly billing helps customers more efficiently manage household finances and budgets,” the MUA and Veolia notice.
