A big thank you to Assemblymembers Katie Brennan and Ravi Bhalla for joining us at Tuesday’s JSQCA meeting!

We had an informative discussion covering a wide range of issues impacting our community, including New Jersey’s state budget, the proposed waste transfer facility on Van Keuren Avenue, the need for more green spaces, and much more.

We appreciate them taking the time to share updates, answer residents’ questions, and hear directly from our community. Special thanks to their Legislative Director, Michelle, for joining us as well!

🚗 Jersey City is introducing camera-assisted parking enforcement. Here’s your chance to learn more!

The City is preparing to launch its new Camera-Assisted Parking Enforcement (CAPE) program, designed to address illegal parking that creates safety hazards, including blocked crosswalks, bike lanes, bus stops, and loading zones.

The program’s first phase will include Bergen Square in Ward C, making this particularly relevant to our neighborhood. Cameras will identify potential violations, but a Parking Enforcement Officer will review each case before a ticket is issued.

The City is hosting two community meetings where residents can learn how the program will work, ask questions, and share feedback.

🌳 No more delays to Courthouse Park!

Hudson County is considering moving Brennan Courthouse personnel into 595 Newark Avenue for up to two years while renovations take place - delaying Courthouse Park even further.

The County made a commitment to vacate this property to make way for a much-needed public park. It's time to keep that promise.

Our friends at the Courthouse Park Advocacy Group have drafted a letter urging Hudson County Commissioners and County Executive Craig Guy to find an alternative solution and protect the future of Courthouse Park.

What an amazing time today helping bring the new Journal Square community mural to life! There’s something pretty special about seeing neighbors come together, pick up a paintbrush, and leave their own little mark on the neighborhood.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to paint and participate, and especially to artist May Bukowski for creating such an amazing work of public art.

We can’t wait to see the finished mural and enjoy a little more color in the Square! 🎨✨

We’re back for our fifth Neighborhood Cleanup of the year, and we could use extra hands!

Join JSQCA and your neighbors for a Saturday morning of cleaning up the Square, meeting some great people, and leaving the neighborhood a little better than we found it.
