The Journal Square Community Association formally submitted its opposition letter regarding the proposed waste transfer facility at 25 Van Keuren Avenue.

In the letter, we call on the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to deny any permit or approval for the facility, urges reform of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority’s oversight structure, and advocates for future land uses that better serve our community, including green space, affordable housing, and other public benefits.

We look forward to continuing to work with our elected officials, community partners, and residents to ensure that the voices of those most impacted by this proposal are heard throughout the decision-making process.

The public comment period has been extended, providing additional time for residents to submit their comments to NJDEP. If you have not already done so, PLEASE make your voice heard. The link to submit comments can be found in our bio.

Public participation matters. Every comment submitted becomes part of the public record and helps demonstrate the level of community concern surrounding this proposal. The more residents who engage in the process, the stronger the message that our community’s health, safety, and quality of life must be protected.

This issue is far from over. Please stay informed, stay engaged, and encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to submit comments as well.
