Comforting With Music

Comforting With Music There are many elders and people with severe disabilities that are placed in special facilities that provide 24/7 care. I wanted to be part of this magic.

It is a sad fact of life that sometimes they are neglected by family and people outside the four walls they live in. My goal is to bring a little happiness and comfort to each and every one of these people. However, this is more than any one person can do. Therefore, I have developed a program that provides all the information necessary for a person with a heart for service to contribute to this s

ituation. I believe that music can help cure people to a certain extent. In the past 4 years, my father sang at homes for people with disabilities every other week and he has noticed a difference in their actions. When he first started playing they were unresponsive, but 4 years later, they started to sing (to the best of their ability) and clap by touching their hands together very softly. This does not seem like a big accomplishment, but these are dramatic improvements to the individuals involved. Some of these people were lucky to have a great life before this terrible life change, others were not so lucky and were born with these disabilities. When you volunteer, you feel this warm feeling in your heart, because you are making a difference in someone’s life. Even if you volunteer for half an hour, or even 3 hours, anything makes a difference. You do not have to have a perfect voice, or even a good voice, it makes them happy to know you care.
