Beit Ruth for Young Women and Girls At Risk

Beit Ruth for Young Women and Girls At Risk Beit Ruth is the vision of Founder Susan Ashner. Over 30,000 girls in Israel are deemed at-risk by the Ministry of Welfare.

At our long-term residential, educational, and therapeutic Village, Beit Ruth provides critical on-the-ground programs and services to girls, ages 13-18, who have been removed from their homes by court order due to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Tragically, this issue is considered low-priority, resulting in exhausted state-run facilities. Beit Ruth aims to meet the unique educational need

s of at-risk girls while remaining sensitive to therapeutic goals and social/emotional capabilities and to provide the tools to support for the future. Beit Ruth Village is a long-term therapeutic residence for girls aged 13 - 18 who have been removed from their homes by court order due to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Led by a professional all-female staff, Beit Ruth ensures that all physical welfare needs are met (including shelter, food, clothing, and healthcare), while implementing a coordinated curriculum that combines intensive on-site academic programming with integrated therapeutic programs (including individual, group art, music, equine, horticulture therapies). Our advocacy work extends beyond the Village, allowing us to effect greater change at the systemic level by helping to shape policy; provide an understanding of needed resources; mobilize various stakeholders; and partner with community, state, and international leaders. Our Village programs and services and our advocacy work are both a part of our mission to end the cycle of violence.

Yesterday, the Principal of Beit Ruth's on-site School, Dafna Ohana, was awarded Outstanding Principal of the Year by Israel's Ministry of Education Youth Authority "Hila" Program for at-risk youth, from among 35 of her peers.

Dafna was recognized for her competent and professional knowledge, the extraordinary help she gives to her Hila colleagues, her curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, seeing new challenges as opportunities for growth, and leadership of her team.

We agree this honor is so well deserved and we are grateful to Dafna for fostering a culture in our School that instills these same traits in the girls of Beit Ruth.🏆️ 🏅

The Beit Ruth Village shared this beautiful post on June 7, following Susan Ashner's birthday the day before.

Yesterday evening, just when we sat down to write a birthday post for our late Susan, the sirens started again.
If Susan was here, she would probably be sending a video of love to the girls asking us to make sure they are protected and know how loved they are! She promised to come visit as soon as the flights were resumed.
She also asked us to make sure all the women on our team knew how much she loved them and appreciated their dedication. That they are the beating heart of Beit Ruth ♥️
Our Susan, the wonderful founder of Beit Ruth who left us prematurely and left us a glorious legacy to continue and maintain. How we've missed you!
Our girls remember you and your heartwarming visits to the village and hundreds of our seniors know how to tell that seeing the life you built for yourself - made them believe that they too are capable.
Yesterday the girls entered the ImaginationBox classroom we dedicated in your memory, and they got to feel you and see the woman behind this amazing place where they can build their life, called Beit Ruth, which they call - Home ♥️ 🏡

Pictured: Susan visiting the village with a loving hug to a girl and a meeting with the staff where she cheers each and every one. The memorial wall quotes Susan, who told the girls:
"You deserve care and love.
You deserve education,
You deserve a bright future,
full of security, love, and opportunities."

Today, we’re remembering and missing our beloved Beit Ruth founder and visionary, Susan Ashner, that much more, on her birthday. Each day at Beit Ruth, Susan’s belief that every life can be rebuilt guides our girls and young women to futures of dignity, possibility, and the strength of knowing they are not alone – we are with them. On Susan’s birthday and every day, we are not only keeping Susan’s legacy, we are building on it. Susan’s enduring light shines bright. 🌺 💗

As Shavuot approaches, we draw special inspiration from our Biblical namesake, Ruth — whose story we read on this holiday. Ruth's courage and determination to embrace a new path and build a new life, are reflected every day at Beit Ruth, where our girls and young women create a future forged in connection with one another, rooted in dignity, and filled with meaning. Chag sameach!

WHAT A NIGHT at the Beit Ruth Gala, celebrating extraordinary honorees, Anya Gross and Stephanie Wilf Kahn, and hearing from our inspiring Beit Ruth alumnae and leaders.

Thanks to the outpouring of generosity and love, we surpassed our Gala fundraising goal to continue rising to this moment when Beit Ruth's critical care, life and job skills, quality education, and hope are so urgently and increasingly needed.

A special thank you to The Ramaz Upper School Chamber Choir for helping us open the evening with Hatikvah and joining our very own Beit Ruth alumna in an inspiring performance.
