With great sadness, we share that Janice Gaskins passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from breast cancer.

Janice was a tireless mentor to Type 1 families in the Treasure Coast and across the country. She started Macey's Believers as a JDRF Walk Team, changed it to a nonprofit and raised funds for research and scholarships for families to attend the Children with Diabetes Friends for Life Conference for 20 years.

Please keep the Gaskins Family in your prayers as they navigate this difficult time.

💙Friends of the Gaskins, Reid would personally like to express his deep appreciation for the support given to Janice and the family during this difficult time. He is so very grateful to the community of friends and family near and far.

Janice has entered hospice at home care. We ask that you pray for the family and respect their privacy as they navigate this difficult time.

Friends: We are looking forward to seeing so many of you Saturday evening at the RAK event in honor of Janice MacIntosh Gaskins and her family. 💙

A few notes:
The US Sailing Center is right on the river, on a large outside deck. The weather is supposed to be great but plan your outfits accordingly. 😉

Raffles: We have had some very generous friends that have donated some raffle items. So new this time, we will have some raffle tickets for sale for these fabulous items!

1. The US Sailing Center is the location for the party. When you arrive, you will check in, give your wine and appetizers to one of our runners, and add your donation to the big glass jar.

2. THIS IS NOW COVERED!! This is why we LOVE our Jensen Beach Community!!! XOXO Since we would like to donate 100% of the proceeds to the Gaskins, we are looking for a $200 sponsor for the paper goods and decorations. Please have any sponsor contact Kelley, Elaine or I.

3. If you cannot attend but would like to support the Gaskins family during this difficult time, you can use my Venmo (below) to donate. 100% of your donation will go straight to the family. Please put “For the Gaskins” in the memo line. The last 4 digits of my number is 0683 if needed.

Organization: Children With Diabetes

The Texas Longhorns standout was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. But through his diagnosis, Mitchell has been passionate about spreading awareness about diabetes, especially for children.

"Living with Type 1 diabetes has taught me resilience and the importance of community," Mitchell said in a statement provided by Excel Sports Management. "I want every child living with diabetes to know they are not alone and that we're fighting together."

The Colts wide receiver will be supporting Children with Diabetes, an organization dedicated to educating and providing support to families with Type 1 diabetes, with lime green, teal and light orange Adidas cleats that display the organization's smiley-face logo in the three-striped design, along with the organization's slogan.
