Heartland Vintage Racing

Heartland Vintage Racing Heartland Vintage Racing is dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of vintage racing automobiles.

The Heartland Vintage Racing group is based in the midwest, and promotes the enjoyment of classic race cars and vintage racing around the tracks of middle-America. We are based out of the Kansas City area, but have members from all over the Midwest. Our members own and race everything from Elvas to Shelbys, classic open-wheel formula cars to full-fendered historic Trans-Am cars, and everything in

between. But owning a vintage race car is not a prerequisite for membership. Only a passion for the automobiles and a love of motorsports from an era-gone-by is required. At Heartland Vintage Racing events, there are numerous ways to become part of the action without being behind the wheel of a race car, and we are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. We enjoy the camaraderie of our hobby as much as the competition, and hope that you will come join us, whether as a member, participant, or spectator.

Happy Memorial Day.

This holiday doesn’t ask much of us.

Just that once a year, we pause long enough to remember that some people raised their right hand, answered the call, and never made it back.

Not for recognition.
Not for applause.
Not for a three-day weekend.

Their service became someone else’s future.

Take a moment today.
That small act of remembrance is part of carrying their legacy forward.

Race weekends may be fueled by gasoline… but they’re held together by family.

Happy Mother’s Day from Heartland Vintage Racing to all the moms and grandmothers who’ve supported the hobby, cheered from the sidelines, shared the journey, and made lifelong memories at the track.

We appreciate you more than you know. ❤️🏁

Here’s where we are racing this weekend! It’s an absolutely beautiful facility and an incredible track.

Thanks to NASA MidAmerica for making it possible and to Grassroots Motorsports Magazine for shedding light on some of the urban legends!

The most mysterious race track in America? It might very well be Hedge Hollow Raceway.

Nevertheless, the word’s slowly getting out. It’s not so secret anymore–and it may just be the best driver’s track, too, according to several of our sources, including our own tire test editor, Andy Hollis.

What makes Hedge Hollow so special? And why should you race on it? Find out at the link in the comments.

There have been a few drivers contact our club president about having issues registering for the Hedge Hollow race. After speaking with Donna at NASA Mid-America we found out that when HVR enters one of our races at NASA’s event, you (the driver) need to use the Guest Group tab not the guest group under the Racing Tab. You’ll notice ((((Welcome HVR drivers! NASA Members save $52.90 on this registration. [Become a NASA member today!](https://members.drivenasa.com/account/memberships/new)))) on the correct tab.

Some HVR and CVAR members came together with others this past weekend to race at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit’s 50th Anniversary Vintage Sports Car Festival. Friday morning’s weather allowed some practice laps, but then the rains started falling hard…and we also experienced one extremely close lightning strike!! Saturday was a lovely day at the track, so the guys were able to get their qualifying laps in followed by two races. Sunday was completely rained out.

Next race is only three weeks away! It will be at Hedge Hollow Raceway May 2-3.

As 2025 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on a year filled with both big highs and real heartbreak for Heartland Vintage Racing.

This past year marked a return to momentum. More members. More events. More time together. More laughter in the paddock and more miles shared on track. It reminded us why this community exists in the first place, to enjoy great cars, good friends, and the simple joy of doing what we love together.

At the same time, we also said goodbye to one of our founding members, Rick Fiske. Rick’s passion, leadership, and love for this community helped shape HVR from the very beginning. He will always be part of our story, and his presence will continue to be felt every time we gather.

As we head into 2026, we do so with gratitude. Thank you to our members, partner organizations, sponsors, volunteers, and fans who continue to support HVR and make it what it is. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm are what keep this group strong.

Here’s to honoring the past, appreciating the present, and looking ahead to another year of shared experiences, great racing, and time well spent together. We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and meaningful New Year.

Some people just seem to be everywhere motorsports are happening, and Robert Burdiss is one of them.

If you’ve spent any time around Midwest road courses, you’ve probably seen his name pop up more than once. NASA MidAmerica. The Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival. And yes, right here with Heartland Vintage Racing. This Robert Burdiss cat is all over the Midwest racing scene.

Robert was recently at the PRI show with his daughter Claire, representing our pals at NASA MidAmerica and doing a great interview along the way.

HVR is proud to have Robert on our board and even more thankful for everything he does behind the scenes to support racers, events, and the community as a whole. Through his company, Burdiss More Than Mail, he continues to give back in meaningful ways that help keep grassroots racing strong.

Thanks for all you do, Robert. Midwest racing is better because of people like you.
