UPDATE!!

We have her! A foster volunteered to take her in and help her give birth.

She was COVERED in ticks but she’s been cleaned up and her foster is helping her feel safe.

UPDATE: SAFE!!!!!

‼️EMERGENCY‼️

We have a big ask... we received an email from a person stating that they have a 1/2 Belgian Malinois 1/2 german shepherd who is pregnant and due to give birth any day. He says he can't keep her and he is also going out of town this weekend. Nothing like short notice.... anyhow. Can anyone foster her? We supply everything. Please let us know if you are already approved or if you would like to help this girl please fill out a foster application at www.oklahomagsr.org/foster.

We can only help her if a foster steps up today so we can start getting supplies for her and get her to the vet!!

Malakai is just 5.5 months old and weighs about 30 pounds. He was rescued from the Oklahoma panhandle after a foster spotted him posted by animal control, desperate for help. Not long after coming into our care, he started getting sick — he has tested positive for parvo, and right now, he isn’t doing well.

He’s being treated at Woodland West Animal Hospital in Tulsa, and needs urgent medical care that isn’t cheap. We’re asking for your help to give this little guy the fighting chance he deserves.

🐾 Meet Opal 🐾
Age: ~4 years

📍 Tulsa, OK (Boarding)

Opal is coming back to us after finding her way into a wonderful home two years ago — through no fault of her own, she's back and looking for a new family to love her.

She's playful and good-natured, and her previous owner described her as a good girl who minds very well. She loves running the fence line with the neighbor dogs, and she's a total toy enthusiast with a playful spirit that shines through.

At her vet visit after coming back to us, she was quiet and a little unsure — understandably, given how much has changed for her — but that's not who she is once she feels safe again.

Opal has a unique medical history: she has an 8th vertebra where most dogs have 7, which causes some mild issues in her lower back. She can walk and even run, but her activity needs to stay limited and well-managed rather than go unrestricted — she may occasionally sway or stumble on her back end, and she prefers to avoid stairs. She needs a little help getting into vehicles, and her vet has found a small amount of discomfort that's easily managed with medication and supplements. She's also heartworm negative!

She knows sit, down, and stay, and she's completely potty and crate trained.

Opal would be the perfect fit for a family that isn't overly active — a loving, low-key home where she can be somebody's best slow walking buddy.

How is this black goddess still waiting?!!

Update on Athena - the brilliant!

Let's start with the facts.

She figured out how to unlatch a baby gate. She also opened a door — we still don't know how. On the other side of that door was a 6 pound Chihuahua who had opinions about the situation. Athena was not impressed. She ignored every single scream bark and lunge with the quiet dignity of someone who has simply evolved past all of that.

She also always grabs a toy on her way out to go potty. Every single time. She needs something to carry. This is important to her.

And she loves the swimming pool.

Athena has come an incredibly long way. She is smart — possibly too smart — devoted, and learning to navigate the world with more confidence every day. She needs an experienced home that can match her energy and keep one step ahead of her.

Onyx update. 🖤

Two things you need to know about this boy.

❤️First — he is a cuddler. Especially at night. He will find you and he will be close and that is simply how it is going to be.

🦴Second — he has a whole system with his squeaky toys. He throws them up in the air, kicks them with his feet, then runs and pounces on them. By himself. For fun. He invented this game. He is very proud of it.

Simba update. 🦁

Remember when we said he had a hidden ornery side? Yeah. It’s not so hidden anymore.

He destroyed his first toy. He found the bed and decided that since Rocky gets to be on it, so does he — and that’s final. He talks. Constantly. About everything. You will know his thoughts on all subjects at all times.

He’s also using his foster mom as a personal jungle gym. The bruises are real. She is a hero. 🏅

He still takes a minute with new people in the house — he’ll bark, but he’s not hateful about it, just cautious. Give him a moment and he comes around.

This is Simba. Shy, sensitive, cautious Simba — who now destroys toys, hogs the bed, and narrates his entire life out loud.

We love him so much. His forever family is going to love him even more.
