🚨URGENT UPDATE FROM OKLAHOMA GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE
We have reached a point where we must place Oklahoma German Shepherd Rescue on a firm intake hold.
This is one of the hardest announcements we have ever had to make.
Every single day, we receive multiple owner surrender requests, shelter requests, and reports of stray dogs needing help. Every day, we are forced to say no to dogs that desperately need assistance because we simply do not have the resources, foster homes, volunteers, or funding to take them.
The rescue world is in crisis.
Adoptions have nearly stopped. Donations are at an all-time low. Meanwhile, veterinary bills, boarding expenses, training costs, food, medications, and daily care continue to grow.
We currently have dogs in our care that need new foster homes and have nowhere to go. Several of our fosters need breaks, some have vacations planned, and many have been carrying multiple dogs for months. The burden continues to fall on the same small group of dedicated people, and they are exhausted.
Our volunteer team is stretched beyond capacity. We desperately need help with transporting dogs, handling dogs at adoption events, processing applications, fundraising, and day-to-day rescue operations.
The reality is simple:
We cannot continue taking in more dogs when we are struggling to adequately support the ones already depending on us.
If we continue at this pace, we risk failing the dogs already in our care—and that is something we refuse to do.
So today, our focus must shift.
Our priority is finding foster homes for the dogs we already have.
Our priority is getting our current dogs adopted.
Our priority is ensuring we can continue paying for their medical care, training, boarding, and daily needs.
Without significant community support, we will remain on intake hold for the foreseeable future.

Right now, we are fighting to keep our heads above water while continuing to provide the level of care our dogs deserve.
