Now that the Historic Jenks Chili Cook-Off is over, it's time to look back on a little chili history. It all started in 1967, in a ghost town in far South Texas. Carol Shelby, Wick Fowler and Frank Tolbert came up with the idea of a chili cook-off to see who could cook the best Chili. Terlingua, Texas, is the home of the CASI International Chili Championship.

Thousands of chiliheads head to Terlingua on the first of November to compete in the championship. Enjoy the history and see why beans are not allowed in CASI cook-offs.

On many occasions, Shelby and a close friend including Tom Tierney, David E. Davis, and Bill Neale would regale in Terlingua. Terlingua becomes a Chili Capital

Congratulations to the chili cooks who participated in last week's Historic Jenks Chili Cook-Off. Also, congratulations to Tracy Whitfield and Don Hamrick, members of St. James Presbyterian Church, who entered the church category.
