This Sunday, October 4 is the annual Monarch Butterfly Celebration & Sustainability Fair. Join us in Jenkintown Town Square from 11:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m.

We'll have a presentation on the Monarch Butterfly at 12:30, followed by a butterfly tag & release (conditions permitting) as part of the Monarch Watch Tagging Program. The Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale community science project initiated in 1992 to help understand the dynamics of the monarch's spectacular fall migration through mark and recapture. Representatives from Bird Town PA, Back to Earth Compost Crew, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, Briar Bush Nature Center and others will be on hand to share information about ways we can all support sustainable choices every day.

Fox Chase Cancer Center and Briar Bush Nature Center team up to talk about the impact of Ozone Layer depletion and UV rays on our natural world. Join us for a discussion with Yash Chhabra and Kyrstin Schwarz on May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall.

Yash Chhabra is an Assistant Professor, Fox Chase Cancer Center. Yash completed his PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of Queensland, Australia.

Kyrstin Schwarz joined Briar Bush's staff in 2023 and has become a valued and dedicated part of the Environmental Education team. Kyrstin has a bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Wildlife Management with a minor in Education.
