Just a friendly reminder that when shoveling sidewalks, you should not throw the snow into the street. Unfortunately, I pulled up this evening to see someone doing just that where I park my car. Hope I don't fall getting in and out of the car with my kids.

Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) Restrictions Next Week in Montgomery County for Resurfacing

Weekday and weeknight lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) between Shady Lane in Rockledge Borough and Abington Township, and Route 63 (Welsh Road/Philmont Avenue) in Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery County, on Monday through Friday (Oct. 13-17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for resurfacing, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike) motorists are advised to use extra care when driving through the work zone and to allow additional time for travel because slowdowns will occur.

In addition to resurfacing the deteriorated pavement on Route 232 (Huntingdon Pike), crews will install ADA curb ramps and new pavement markings; upgrade pedestrian buttons at signalized intersections; and replace crosswalks at various intersections.

The resurfacing part of this project is scheduled to be completed in the late fall. The entire project is expected to finish in April 2015.

James D. Morrissey, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $1,627,178.80 project that is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania new transportation plan.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 700 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.

What time is the meeting tonight regarding the zoning changes?

01/12/2012

I sent this in an email to the HCA email list, but I also wanted to post it here as well.

Hello All,
I wanted to share what I learned at the meeting last night. More or less, that there was a bit of incorrect information being thrown around.

The inclusion of the football field plan in the Master Plan appeared to be simply to be able to discredit it as a viable plan. The study needed to be done in order to show why this parcel of land was not the proper location for such a facility. No mention or plan of a stadium of any kind was discussed, and the Abington Raiders are not part of this plan in any fashion.

The second plan that was introduced for discussion at the meeting was a simpler development of a small park, with about 15 parking spaces and a walking trail. This plan was shown to be a much more viable option for this space.

The Master Plan for this parcel is in it’s infantile stages and I accredit Doug Wendell for assuring that the residents’ thoughts and ideas are, and have been, incorporated into the development of ideas around what should be done with this parcel.

This plan is far from fruition and will continue to grow, change and develop. There are no funds to do anything with this land at this time, but in order to more forward with anything, a master plan does need to be put together. This plan will be built with the wants of the residents in mind and then ultimately voted on by our commissioners. Who, in perfect practice, will vote for the wants of their residents.

So, I urge you, if what happens at this parcel is of concern and/or interest to you, please continue to follow the progress of this plan and attend the future meetings, or speak to your commissioner and voice your opinion, or share your opinions with me and I will be sure to deliver them to our Commissioner, Rich Gaglianese. If you would like to contact Rich directly, his phone number is 267-339-9686 and his email address is [email protected]

I will do my best to get information out about future meetings and happening on this.
