My heart is so tender toward any child in need of a safe home. Therefore, my heart is always pressed to share about our journey through foster care, reunification, and adoption. My hope is it will encourage other Christian homes to love beyond their comfort zone too.
Iâve included pictures of one of our adoption days, our very first placement through foster care, and our newest surprise foster placement after thinking we were all done. Two call me Mom, one called me Aunt and is transitioning to calling me mom by his choice, and one calls me Nonnie. The first placement we ever had was reunified and gave me a new name of Nonnie. It is a name Iâll gladly answer to forever.
There is a commonality in all three journeys....fostering, adoption, and reunification...it is that Christ is sovereign over all journeys. He has been the central theme in our faith walk through all placements and plans as they unfold. He sustains!
Itâs his love for us that pressed us to love others. James 1:27 âReligion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.â
My husband nor I have all the answers...but what I can tell you from our personal experience is....itâs hard...itâs painful...itâs beautiful...itâs so rewarding....and that in Him, for Him, and by Him is the only way we could have done it and continue to do it.
It has truly been our blessing!!! Each of them have been worth every pain, tear shed, prayers lifted, and the leaning required as we grow into a family. These growing pains are real and each require grace, mercy, and forgiveness. You know, all those things Christ has gifted to each of us and exampled so perfectly for us.
Every child deserves a family to love them as their very own. No natter if they stay a minute, a day, a week, a month, a year, or are adopted into your family foreverâŚ.they all deserve the love of a family. â¤ď¸
