Welcome Back — S3DA Archery Starts This Wednesday!
Hello S3DA Families,

Welcome back! We’re excited to kick off another season of Sullivan Catskill Archers S3DA at The Catskill Outdoorsman.

Our first practice of the season is this Wednesday. For this Wednesday only, we will have one combined practice from 5:30–7:00 PM.

Over the next few weeks, we will begin transitioning into the new two-practice structure we discussed. As a reminder, practices will eventually be divided into:

Recreational Practice — Wednesdays, 4:00–5:30 PM

This practice is open to our S3DA archers and is focused on having fun, improving shooting skills, building confidence, playing archery games, and enjoying time on the range. This is a great fit for kids who enjoy archery but aren't necessarily looking for the added commitment of competitive shooting.

Competitive Practice — Wednesdays, 6:00–7:30 PM

This will be a smaller, more focused practice for archers who want to compete and take their shooting to the next level. The smaller group gives our coaches more opportunity for individual instruction and allows us to work more seriously on form, scoring, tournament preparation, mental focus, and competition strategy.

Placement in the competitive practice will be coach-selected and based on things like attendance, attitude, effort, focus, and the archer's commitment to improving.

Lancaster Archery Classic

This season, we're also going to begin preparing interested archers for the Lancaster Archery Classic. This is a great opportunity for our kids who want to experience a larger competitive archery event and challenge themselves beyond our normal S3DA tournaments.

Participation in Lancaster will not be required. We will provide more information for families and archers who are interested as we get further into the season.

For now, we're looking forward to getting everyone back together, getting some arrows downrange, and starting another great season.

Hello Sullivan Catskill Archers Families,

We have a great opportunity this weekend to come together as a team and support the local archery community, and we could really use your help!

The Catskill Outdoorsman and Silver Birch Archery are hosting The Lost Arrow Fun Shoot this Sunday at Airport Park in Matamoras, PA. This is a 28-target 3D fundraiser shoot benefiting the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department PBA and the community and youth programs they support.

SATURDAY – SETUP HELP NEEDED

We will begin setting up the course at 12:00 PM on Saturday and need at least 10 volunteers to help get everything ready. There will be plenty to do, and you do not need any special experience to help.

SUNDAY – COME SHOOT & HELP WITH BREAKDOWN

The shoot begins at 8:00 AM Sunday, with the last flight going out around 1:00 PM. The cost to shoot is $25 per person.

We would LOVE to see our S3DA archers come out and shoot the course! It’s a fun opportunity to get outside, shoot 3D, spend time together as a team, and support a great cause.

We also need as many volunteers as possible at 1:00 PM Sunday to help break down the course, collect targets, and get everything cleaned

Parents and archers are both welcome to help. Even if you can only give us a couple of hours, it makes a difference.

Our youth archery program works because we have families willing to step up, participate, and support the archery community beyond regular practice nights. This is a great opportunity for our Sullivan Catskill Archers to show what kind of team we are.

Hello, Sullivan Catskill Archers!

We hope you had an amazing summer because we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the range!

Our new season begins Wednesday, October 7th, at 4:00 PM, and we’re excited to kick things off with a fresh, improved structure for coaching and classes designed to make your archery experience more engaging, organized, and rewarding than ever.

We are also holding a jersey making contest. We want you to help design our team jerseys! Choose team colors and design and we will vote on the winner!

So whether you’re brand new to archery, looking to sharpen your skills, or ready to take your shooting to the next level, our updated coaching and class format will offer more focused instruction, better opportunities for growth, and plenty of time to build confidence on the range.

Get ready for an exciting season filled with great shooting, expert guidance, new challenges, and the welcoming Sullivan Catskill Archers community you know and love. We’re looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new archers, and getting everyone back on the range!

Dear Parents and Archers,

We would like to take a moment to thank all of you for your continued support and dedication to our S3DA program. Over the past seasons, we have seen tremendous growth in both participation and skill development within our archery family. As our program continues to grow, we feel it is important to make some changes that will better serve the needs of all of our archers.
Beginning soon, we will be dividing our Wednesday practices into two separate sessions:

Recreational Practice
Wednesdays from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
This session will be designed for archers who are participating primarily for enjoyment, skill development, and recreational shooting rather than competition. Practices during this time will focus on general range time, games, group instruction, and building confidence in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
An added benefit to this earlier time slot is that students attending Sullivan West will be able to take the bus directly to the range.

Competitive Practice
Wednesdays from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
This session will be reserved for archers who are interested in competing at local, state, and national competitions. The competitive practice will provide a more structured training environment with increased focus, more one-on-one coaching, and a smaller class size to better meet the needs of competitive archers.
Over the years, we have found that with such a large combined group, it has become increasingly difficult to provide the level of coaching and individualized attention necessary for those archers looking to compete at a higher level. These changes are being made to help every archer get the type of experience and instruction that best fits their goals.

As part of this transition, we will also have to make some difficult decisions regarding placement in the competitive class. Factors such as attendance, focus, effort, attitude, and commitment to improvement will all play a role in determining participation in the competitive session.

We also believe this structure will encourage some archers to take practices more seriously and continue pushing themselves to improve both on and off the shooting line.
Please understand that these changes are being made with the best interests of the entire program in mind. Our goal is to continue building a positive environment where every archer has the opportunity to grow, enjoy the sport, and reach their individual goals.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our program and all of our archers.

Please join us to help raise money for the Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Corps tonight!

Tonight the National Honors Society students Avery, Riley, Aimee and Ariana students from the Sullivan West Central School District will be hosting Glow Archery tonight to raise money for the Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Corps. Fun for the whole family ages 6yrs and up. Equipment is available and we will teach you how to use a bow! Proceeds go towards the Jeffersonville Volunteer First Aid Corps. Tonight 5pm-8pm
