🌟 Meet the Teachers – 2's Room! 🌟
We are so excited to introduce the amazing team leading our 2's Room this year — and it's extra special because they're a mother-daughter duo! 💛
Meet Mrs. Penny!
Penny has been working in childcare for 14 years and holds her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. After a career shift that began during one of the hardest seasons of her life, she found her true calling caring for little ones — and she brings so much warmth, wisdom, and experience into the classroom every day.
Meet Mrs. Amy!
Amy's love for early childhood started 12 years ago and has grown into an 8-year teaching career. She's married to her husband Tyler and is mom to three little girls of her own, so she knows firsthand what it means to keep children feeling safe, loved, and understood. She's currently finishing her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and is on track to graduate next fall!
Together, Mrs. Penny and Mrs. Amy make the perfect team for our two-year-olds — bringing generations of love, patience, and experience to every day in the classroom. 💕

Meet the Teachers: Dusty & Rebekah! 🌈
Dusty and Rebekah are our co-teachers leading Pre-K A! Dusty started working with children back in 2005 and brings years of early childhood and ABA experience to the classroom. Rebekah has been teaching for 7 years and is currently working toward her Birth-Kindergarten Bachelor's degree at AppState.

🌻 Fresh from the Farm to Our Little Learners! 🌻
We are so grateful for our partnership with Bluff View Farms, made possible through a Growing Minds Farm to Early Care grant from ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project)! Since June, our children at Ashe Developmental Day School have been enjoying gorgeous, farm-fresh produce grown right here in our community — broccoli, rainbow cauliflower, cucumbers, watermelon, blackberries, and sweet blueberries, just to name a few! 🥦🫐🍉
Access to fresh, local, nutritious food is such an important part of healthy growth and development, and we're thankful for partners like Bluff View Farms and ASAP's Growing Minds program who helped make this possible for ADDS.

Ms. Destiny has been part of the ADDS family for 3 years and is now our lead teacher in Pre-K B! She holds a 2-year Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wilkes Community College.

🥗 Food Safety Alert: Cyclosporiasis Cases Reported in North Carolina & Across the U.S.

Health officials are monitoring an increase in Cyclosporiasis infections in North Carolina and other parts of the United States. Cyclospora is a parasite that can contaminate fresh produce and cause an intestinal illness.

Currently, we are unaware of any confirmed Cyclosporiasis cases in Alleghany, Ashe or Watauga Counties.

🤒 Symptoms may include:
• Watery diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Stomach cramps and bloating
• Nausea
• Fatigue
• Weight loss

Symptoms typically begin about 1 week after consuming contaminated food.

⚠️ Important to know: Washing fresh fruits and vegetables—even with chemical produce washes—does not always remove Cyclospora.

✅ The only thing known to kill Cyclospora is to:
• Cook produce before eating (cook to an internal temperature of 158 degrees F).

If you experience prolonged diarrhea or other symptoms after eating fresh produce, contact your healthcare provider. Early diagnosis and treatment can help you recover more quickly.

Stay informed, practice safe food handling, and follow updates from public health officials and other reliable sources.
