Blessings of Grace Food Pantry for Marion County This food pantry serves the people of Marion County. Clients may receive food once a month and obtain fresh produce on produce days. See posted calendar.

We also provide backpacks of food to school children. Mission Statement: This is a faith based entity that brings
together local churches with our common mission being to
alleviate hunger in Marion County. We operate solely
through donations of both food and money .

Shirley Partridge tells the origins of our pantry

I belong to the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. In June of 2009 the East Texas Food Bank called our pastor and ask if we would give out boxes of food for the next couple of months, which we did.

In October of 2009 the Church decided to form a food bank of our own and I was elected chair. We went on serving the pantry out of the Church and I believe it was the spring of 2011 we asked other churches in our area to join us.

Besides our church we have the Catholic Church, the Episcopal Church, Baptist Church and a Seven Day Adventist Church on our Board of Directors. Not only do we serve people through pantry but we pack 100 Backpacks each week during the school for children to take home for the weekend so they will have enough to eat.

In April 2016 we were given an old nursing home for another outreach program at the Methodist Church, Creating Opportunities in Marion County, which teaches college classes to people in poverty.
