The address to the Westbank shelter is 2701 Lapalco Blvd., Harvey, LA 70058. If you're

wanting to get your pet spayed/neutered through our Low Cost Program, you can go to our website www.jeffersonspca.org and see a list of clinics that participate in our program. You contact the vet directly to schedule your appointment. It's a $60 co-pay for dogs, a $15 co-pay for cats and a $40 male/$60 female co-pay for rabbits. If you're wanting to see animals for adoption:

If we have dogs for adoption, they will be at the Jefferson Feed on Jefferson Hwy in Jefferson, LA. We have 3 dog adoption kennels and our dogs are pulled directly from the animal shelter and placed at the store. Our volunteer dog adoption coordinator is Martha, her email is [email protected]. Our small animal adoption coordinator is Hannah, her email is [email protected]. You can stop by during Jefferson Feed business hours and meet any of the animals we have available for adoption. Please ask a staff member for assistance if you want to take them out or apply for adoption. Sometimes there isn't enough staff to assist, so please be patient. Occasionally we have a few cats at Petco in Kenner on Williams Blvd. These cats are pulled directly from JPAWS (the parish animal shelter) and placed at this offsite partner location. Please ask a Petco staff member for help with adopting a cat. If you're wanting to see the animals the shelter has for adoption, you can check out their petfinder page at jpaws.petfinder.com. If you want to email them, their email is [email protected].

COOPER IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A NEW SECURITY DETAIL.

Cooper is a 9-year-old Chihuahua who weighs a whopping 7 pounds but firmly believes he is responsible for the protection of several acres, multiple households, and possibly national security.

Cooper came to us as an owner surrender through JPAWS with severe luxating patellas. One back leg was beyond repair. The other was repaired surgically and healed beautifully. Could we amputate the bad leg? Sure. Would it improve his quality of life? Not really. Would it improve his appearance? Maybe. Cooper does not care. Cooper has never once looked in a mirror and thought, “I wish I was more aesthetically pleasing.”

Instead, Cooper runs around the yard screaming at danger and chasing his 65-pound foster brother as if he personally pays the property taxes.

He likes other dogs. Sometimes.

Other times, he acts like the grumpy HOA president of the backyard and would like everyone to respect his authority.

At night, he transforms into the perfect roommate. He sleeps quietly under the blankets pressed right against you and doesn’t make a peep. If he wants to be picked up, he politely paws at your ankle like a tiny Victorian orphan asking for assistance.

He gets his dental this Friday and then he’s officially ready for his next chapter.

If you’re looking for a tiny dog with a giant personality, excellent cuddling skills, questionable management techniques, and absolutely zero understanding of his actual size, Cooper may be your guy.

Cooper is currently in foster care. Approved adopters will be invited to schedule a meet and greet.

You can download an application here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ahiajf6e6i0ox2hdl09jk/JSPCA-Application_2.0-Newest-Updates.pdf?rlkey=be9he1julh02etikl021k9plk&dl=0 and email it to his foster mom [email protected].

Bunny Bunco is hopping our way on Sunday, June 28th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Italian American Bocce Club, 2340 Severn Ave!

Come join us for an afternoon full of laughs, dice rolling, prizes, and bunny fun! Bunco is a super easy and fast paced dice game that anyone can play. No experience is needed at all! We will explain all the rules before we get started, so whether you are a Bunco pro or have never played before, you are more than welcome to join in.

Oreo needs a place to land for just a few days.

We currently have him boarding while we try to help him finally find the right home, but with Memorial Day weekend approaching, boarding facilities are packed and space is extremely limited.

We are desperately hoping someone can foster Oreo from Saturday through Wednesday.

Oreo is only 10 months old and has already been failed multiple times. He was adopted when he was a tiny puppy, then returned once he grew up. He deserved commitment, not convenience. Despite that, he is still one of the happiest, sweetest dogs you could meet.

He loves other dogs, enjoys everyone he meets, is crate trained, neutered, and fully vaccinated. Angela at Puppy Love has been helping him and absolutely adores him.

We will provide everything he needs. All you have to do is give him a safe place to stay for a few nights until boarding space opens back up Wednesday.

Foster homes are critically low right now with the amount of hoarding and neglect cases happening in our community. Even temporary help makes a huge difference.

If you can help Oreo for a few days, reach out to Angela at Puppy Love! (504) 267-7877 or via email [email protected]

Today is International Family Day, and there’s no better time to celebrate the love, comfort, and connection that family brings.

Eevee and Espurr have been each other’s family through every single day of their journey — and after more than 455 days in our care, this bonded sister duo is still waiting for a home to call their own.

They’ve shared the ups, the downs, and all the quiet moments in between, always side by side. Now, they’re hoping someone will open their heart and make room for both of them.

Please help us share their story today and help Eevee and Espurr find the perfect family they’ve been waiting so patiently for. 🐾💕
