Did you know? Every 3 hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. It is easy to get distracted on roads we know well, but tracks always need our full attention. Always look both ways, obey all signs and signals and never try to drive around lowered gates. We want everyone to make safe choices behind the wheel. See Tracks? Think Train!®

Behind every rail safety message is a volunteer who cares.

More than 2,000 volunteers across the country help OLI bring rail safety education to schools, community groups and professional drivers. In 2025, that effort reached more than 1 million people.

You do not need a background in rail to make a difference. OLI provides the training and the materials. You bring the time and the heart.

The world is heading to the host cities and many fans will travel by rail and transit to reach the matches. Before the whistle blows, know the rules: cross only at designated crossings, always expect a train and stay behind the platform line. Trains are quieter and faster than you think. Make safe choices on the way to the match! For free resources, visit our toolkit here: https://oli.org/international-soccer-match-safety-2026

Match day brings crowds, traffic and excitement. Give yourself extra time and extra attention near the tracks. Never try to beat a train to a crossing. Trains cannot stop quickly and a freight train can take more than 15 soccer fields to stop fully. Make safe choices. See Tracks? Think Train!®

Every crossing deserves your full attention.

Trains can't stop quickly. A freight train can take more than a mile to stop, even in an emergency.

When you reach a crossing:

Always expect a train.
Never go around gates.
Cross only when the signs and signals are clear.
Make safe choices. See Tracks? Think Train!®

Today is International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD).

Crossings connect communities. They require everyone's attention. At every crossing, slow down, look both ways and cross only when it is clear.

Always expect a train. Trains are quieter and faster than you think.

Make safe choices at every crossing. Save this and share it with someone who crosses the tracks every day.

Harvest season means long days, familiar routes and frequent trips between fields, grain elevators and ag facilities. Remember: rail lines serving agricultural communities are active rail lines. Always expect a train on any track, at any time, in either direction. As you plan your harvest routes, be prepared for railroad crossings along the way. Slow down, look and listen, obey all signs and signals and never assume a track is inactive just because you don't see a train.
