Jefferson Elementary School families, we're excited to welcome our Little Elks back soon! Please review the following information for Wednesday, August 5:

🚌 Aug. 5 Bus Transportation
• Students riding the bus should follow their regular morning pickup schedule from home.
• Bus dismissal for students to return home will begin at 9:30 a.m.

🚗 Aug. 5 Parent Drop-In: 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
• Parents/guardians may stop by with your student to pick up important information packets from your child's teacher.

📍 Aug. 5 Parking & Building Entry
• Parking: On Aug. 5, please park in the parking area, NOT in the front circle.
• Building Entry: On Aug. 5, parents and students will enter the building only through the main entrance/front circle doors.

✏More information will be shared soon about student drop-off and pickup procedures for the first full day of school on Friday, August 7.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing our Little Elks and their families!

🚧 Capital Projects Update, July 8: Jefferson Elementary School

• Initial preparation work for asbestos abatement began on June 8, with the removal of asbestos-containing materials officially starting on June 15.

• As of July 8, the abatement contractor has completed approximately 70% of the asbestos removal process.

• Independent air clearance testing has been conducted throughout the project, and all tests have returned clear results, demonstrating that the work is being completed safely and in accordance with state and federal environmental regulations.

• Before staff and students can re-enter the building, the entire abatement process must be completed and the building must pass all final independent air clearance testing.

• Based on the current pace of work, we are optimistic that final clearances will be achieved and Jefferson County Schools will regain access to the building between July 17 and July 24.

• Once access is restored, additional renovation work will continue as scheduled, including classroom painting in areas where lockers and cabinets were removed.

The health and safety of our students, staff, and community remain our highest priority. We appreciate the professionalism and diligence of the abatement contractor and the environmental consultants who continue to monitor the project.

Jefferson County Schools remains committed to keeping our community informed as this important renovation project progresses. Additional updates will be provided as the abatement phase nears completion and the project advances into the next stage of construction.

🍎✨ Teacher Appreciation Week ✨🍎

Our amazing teachers at JES deserve to be celebrated every single day! This week, our Parent Teacher Organization was so excited to treat our incredible staff with special goody boxes, gift cards and CAKE as a small thank you for the big difference they make in the lives of our students each day. 💙

Thank you to our teachers for your patience, dedication, kindness, and endless support. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for all you do for our school family! 🍎📚✨

🤠 Saddle up, little learners! 🤠

Our Kindergarten Round-Up was a rootin’-tootin’ good time! We loved welcoming our future cowboys and cowgirls as they explored classrooms, met teachers, and got their first taste of kindergarten fun. 🌵📚⭐️

PTO was happy to donate this fun balloon arch to help in the celebration!

Also a BIG THANK YOU to Allie Smith for donating her time and talents in making this awesome banner that will be able to be used for years to come!

Our amazing teachers poured so much into our students during testing these last two weeks, and we wanted to pour a little something back into them 💙

Thanks to our GENEROUS community sponsors Gondolier Restaurant of Jefferson City and Hungry Howie’s Pizza of Jefferson City on Friday our Parent Teacher Organization was able to treat each 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teacher at JES with a “Dinner and Dishes Are on Us” kit—because after long days of encouraging, supporting, and cheering on their students, the last thing they should have to worry about is what’s for dinner or the cleanup after. Each kit included a gift card and paper plates and napkins. It was a small way to say THANK YOU for the big difference they make every single day. 🍕🍽️👩🏻‍🏫
